The first thing I see when I open the door is his sandy blonde, styled hair that still looks fluffy and cute despite the deliberate attempts to tame it, and the tips of his messy quiff curling backwards from pointless effort. My eyes travel down to his heavenly eyes and I breathe in deeply.
"Hey Sunshine, you ready?" Ricky asks, kissing my cheek. I smile and nod, and he squeezes my hand affectionately. His touch gives me goosebumps, and I find myself admiring his outfit, a simple white t-shirt tucked into a pair of blue shorts. Still breathless from his good looks, I open my mouth to speak but before I can say anything he presses his lips to mine in a short, subtle kiss, and opens the door to his stylish white Chrysler.
"After you, my Majesty." I giggle and climb into his car, inhaling the lynx deodorant with a smile on my face. Now that, is what I call fresh air. I grin to myself and let the memory of being awarded prom queen flood over me.I hadn't wanted to go to Prom; in the end it had taken roughly 4 days and 6 hours of endless whining, pleading and bribery in my ears until I eventually gave in. But there was no way I was going all fancy - I ended up wearing my favourite summer dress, a simple grey-blue one with a cream design at the bottom. *see above* So it was a huge surprise when I was announced Prom Queen by my future boyfriend.

I still have no idea where we're going - It feels like we're going to some enchanted forest with unicorns flying overhead and rainbow coloured kittens running around, but on the other hand we could be going to his stepdad's sister's mum's funeral on the other side of town for all I know.
"Ricky, I'm serious! Where are we going?!" I exclaim for the 5th time, glaring at him when he doesn't reply.
He grins and looks at me briefly.
"You look beautiful, Sunshine." He says quietly, suddenly looking unsure of himself. I smile and feel my cheeks heat up, both flattered and amused at his cuteness. I earned the name 'Sunshine' just a few weeks ago, when I described to him that I loved the colour of the sunset. We finally reach the end of the long, winding country road and Ricky pulls over, parking on the lush green grass. He gets out and I undo my seatbelt quickly, taking in the view around me. I am surrounded by green trees, bushes and beautiful plants, and in the distance I can see meadow upon meadow full of red, purple, and yellow flowers. Ricky opens the car door and helps me out automatically. I smile at him, both intrigued and excited. He takes my hand and I follow him down the steep gravel path with beautiful hedgerows on either side. We reach the end of the slope and my breath catches in my throat at the view before me.
"Woah," I breathe.Spread out before me is a glorious, sandy beach with an amazingly blue ocean. And it's empty; we have it all to ourselves. A wave of excitement comes over me, and I kick off my sandles rapidly.
The feel of the soft, salty sand beneath my feet only adds to my enthusiasm and with a sudden burst of energy, I start to sprint, getting closer and closer to the waterline with every step. The fluffy, dry sand soon turns cold and damp as I approach the waves, but before I dip my toes in I look over at Rick, who is running towards me, and grin at him. When he reaches me I pull him closer for a kiss, and my heart hammers in my chest, the butterflies in my stomach turn to sparks and adrenaline curses through my body with every heartbeat. He pulls away and looks me in the eyes, deeply, and once again I find myself being pulled back into the green-blue oceans of the inexplicable unknown.
Suddenly the sand beneath my feet sinks, and I lose my footing. A small scream escapes my lips as I fall on my back, bringing Ricky down on top of me. I open my eyes hesitantly and stifle a gasp. His face is only inches away from mine, his arms the only thing stopping his body from pressing onto mine. Ricky scans my face, his own expression full of concern.
"Are you okay?" He asks at last, meeting my emerald green eyes. I smile positively at him.
"Yeah, I'm good," I whisper back, and a soft giggle escapes my mouth. He smiles, relieved, and looks from my eyes to my lips passionately. I become consciously aware of the fact that my hair is soaking wet from the sea, and feel it lapping at my fingers.
"Uh, Ricky?" He looks up at me and nods awkwardly, his cheeks heating up from embarrassment.Once we're both up, I run my fingers through my hair and continue to walk along the beach. Ricky matches my pace and we walk a few yards before he stops.
"You wanna swim?" He asks me gently, wrapping his arm around my waist. I smile and nod eagerly, and so we wade out into the warm ocean. As soon as we are waist deep in the water I splash Ricky and the water hits him square in the face. He fake scowls at me, but I just laugh at him until he starts glaring at me. I back away in mock fear, grin and swim away.We swim for a while, then head back to the beach. We're still lying on the beach towel together when the sun sets, turning the sky a beautiful orange colour.
"I love you." He says quietly, but before I have time to register the words his lips meet mine.
I love you too.
