I jogged up the stone steps of the school, the bags on my back and in my hands made it a huge struggle. But I wouldn't want to look weak in front of all of my future classmates.
Kids were hanging on the steps and laughing with friends.
There was a huge crowd in front of the entrance, blocking my way.
"Uh, excuse me...guys..." I said trying to push my way through the crowd, practically falling back down the stairs.
A soft hand caught my back and pressed me up. "Don't fall, dude," a soft voice said from behind me.
I turned and saw a girl, not just any girl, she is the most beautiful girl that I've ever seen in my life.
A curvy hourglass figure, beautiful chocolate skin and mysterious dark eyes.
She and her friends walked past me and the crowd split as if they were celebrities.
As she walked she kept her eyes locked on mine, she smirked at me and chuckled, then shook her head and disappeared inside the academy.
"Uh...uh..." I smattered running up the stairs. I pushed my way inside the entrance, breathlessly trying to find that girl.
Which I now see would be impossible due to the insane amount of people inside. What would I even say when I found her? 'Thanks'? Or just simply 'Hello'? What if she had a boyfriend? But, wait...I have a girlfriend...so what the hell am I even doing? Why am I chasing this beautiful girl if I have Edith Anne? My freckle faced, green eyed girlfriend, Edith Anne. But Edith Anne was far away now, though she begged to have a long distance relationship and I agreed, so I cannot back down. Best to avoid that girl and maintain my relationship.
I headed for my dorm and was swallowed into the crowd.Dorm 413
The door read, I crept inside and searched for a roommate. I could easily tell someone had been in here, there were bags everywhere.
"Hello?" I shouted, "Anyone here?"
I set my bags down and shut the door, when I turned around a tall thin person was standing before me in a bathrobe.
"Hi," I said, waving. "I'm Tobias...uh I'm your roommate." I smiled.
The person smirked, "Today I'm Deckland." He said walking to his bags and grabbing his clothes. "Tomorrow I may be Delanie,I'm not sure yet. I haven't decided yet. It all depends on how I feel when I wake up."
"Deckland? Delanie?"
"Sometimes I wake up feeling masculine, other days it's feminine. On my masculine days I am Deckland and on my feminine days I am Delanie."
"So...how do I know what to call you on what days?" I asked.
Deckland let out a laugh, "oh, trust me, babe, you'll know." He said walking into the bathroom.
Babe? I started unpacking my bags, setting a picture of Edith Anne on my desk. As I turned to unpack my bags into the dresser drawer when the dorm door opened. And standing in the doorway was the girl. The girl from earlier.
Her body was curvaceous and the maroon and khaki uniform fit her perfectly, her long kinky hair shaped her face like a lions mane and she eyed the room with her round black eyes.
"Hi there," she said, her plump maroon colored lips spread into a smile. "Is Dee in here?" She asked walking inside, I watched in awe, she walked like a goddess. She was curved at all of the right places and her smile was the best curve of all.
She climbed up to the top bunk and sat down, "I just saw you, remember? I caught you when you practically fell off the steps." She pulled a cigarette from her small bag and lit it with a match, I noticed small writing on the side of the cancer stick, but couldn't make it out from where I was standing.
"Don't talk much do ya? That's fine, cuz I talk alot and I mean like a lot alot." She giggled lightly and puffed the cigarette.
Deckland came out of the bathroom, fully dressed and looking like a very pretty boy.
"Hey babe," the girl said, smoke slowly leaving her lips. "Nice 'fit. How are you-"
"Jakie!" Deckland hissed, "how many times do I have to tell you not to smoke on campus?! You can get expelled! Oh my god!" He said fanning the smoke Jakie was leaving in the air.
Jakie started counting on her fingers with the stick in her mouth, and blew smoke from the crack on the opposite side of her lips.
"Seventeen," she mumbled, with the cigarette between her lips. "You told me seventeen times, Dee."
"Right, so why the hell do you still do it?"
"Jakie?" I said.
"Yeah, J-A-K-I, Jaki." She said puffing the cigarette again, I noticed the ashes all skillfully stuck on the end of the cigarette.
Jaki leaned off the bed and blew the smoke in Deckland's face.
"Oh, fuck, Jaki..." He hissed, swatting the smoke away as Jaki blew smoke rings in his face.
Jaki jumped off the top bunk and onto her feet, inches away from Deckland, cigarette ashes flying in the air.
"Dee...baby, you know why I smoke, right?" She seductively grabbed his hands.
Deckland stood there for a minute, nervous. "N-no...I don't,Jaki."
Jaki wrapped her hands around Deckland's neck, and put his around her waist and held the cancer stick in her mouth. "For me," she started swaying side to side, dancing. "Smoking helps me. For me smoking is breathing,Dee. I love smoking. So you think I'm gonna stop because I could get expelled from this hellhole?"
"B-but why in here?" I mumbled curiously.
Jaki froze, as she had forgotten my presence, and turn to me. "Oh, you do speak?" She moved Deckland outside the dorm, shock was written on his face and a boner was clearly in his skin tight khakis. "Go make yourself useful, baby, tell Ben meadow in ten." Deckland obeyed, Jaki shut the door then she waltzed over to me, "What's your name?"
"Er...Tobias..."
"Tobias? Tobias...Tobias..." She tapped her chin, trying to remember something. "Oh! Tobias from the Bible, he was a hero. In the Book of Tobit, he helps Raphael get demons off this girl and then he married her, I believe." She smashed her cigarette butt between her fingers. "That's a pretty cool name, ya know."
"So...is Jaki short for something?" I asked walking over to her.
"Hey who's this chick?" She asked pointing a finger at the picture of Edith Anne.
I could simply lie and say my friend, because Jaki was just so hot and I wanted her to be my girlfriend. Edith Anne is sweet and kind but she is also sensitive and whiny.
"Your girlfriend?" Jaki asked, lifting the frame and eyeing it. "She's a cutie."
"W-we broke up." Why was the first thing to leave my lips? Why am I lying?
"Really?" She asked turning her back to me and looking through my drawers. "Then why do you still have her picture?"
" I-I don't really know. I guess I accidently packed it. We broke up a while ago -"
"Is this your mother?" She asked holding up the picture of my mother. I thought I folded that in my shirt.
"Yeah...she just, uh, passed. She had breast cancer."
Jaki turned to me and looked in my eyes, "I'm sorry," the look that she had given me was strange, odd. It was a look of hurt and seriousness. Eyes were the windows to that soul after all, but Jaki had her curtains up so I couldn't see inside.
"What are you doing in...3 minutes?" Jaki asked me, snapping me out of my mind.
"Either talking to you or just unpacking..."
"Well, Tobias, how would you like to go out with me and my friends?"
"Friends? Well-"
"That a yes?" She asked inching for the door.
"Oh...uh, sur-"
Jaki grabbed my wrist and pulled me out the door, shutting it behind her, and running down the hall. Many students eyed us and quickly jumped from our path, everyone seemed to move whenever Jaki was walking somewhere. Crowds split for her, people made way for her, as if she was Queen.
We stopped at Dorm 400, and Jaki pounded on the door until it opened.
The scent of flowers of some sort and vanilla filled my lungs. I noticed a tall, thin girl with short whitish blonde hair walking over to the bottom bunk bed, she wore all black and walked like a zombie, dark circles and heavy eyeliner around her eyes.
"Hey babe!" Jaki smiled shutting the door behind her. "How are you feeling, baby?" Jaki ran over to the girl and climbed in the bed with her.
