Casey now found herself inside the Homestead with all of the other boys. She was lying next to Thomas. She glanced over to see him with the look of worry and a little anticipation plastered on his face. He looked back at her and winked.

Then came the mechanical grinding of the Grievers. Everyone suddenly got up and moved to the wall furtherest away from the windows. Thomas and Casey both stood together at the front of the group. Thomas found her hand and grasped it hard. Casey squeezed back. This moment was remarkably similar to one before the Maze.

A terrifying shredding noise tore through the wall opposite the group. Everyone began to run up the stairs to escape the metallic beasts. The Griever grabbed a boy and began to make its way out of the Homestead.

Casey nodded to Thomas.

Now or never.

They ran out to meet their foe. Still hand in hand. Casey heard Newt and Teresa screaming. She just kept running, keeping up with Thomas. They both jumped out of the broken hole in he wall. Their hands parted when they hit the ground. Casey sprinted towards the same Griever as Thomas and jumped onto the bulgy flesh. They were swarmed by other Grievers. Casey felt a long deep cut run along her back. But needle pricks told her that she had been stung. She leaped off the back of the Griever and fell onto the grass. She scurried towards Thomas who was lying on his back. Casey was slowly falling into a black hole. She got enough time to lay down beside him and give a fist bump.

Then came the start of a long blackout.
