hotguy15: i can't kill the hydra, dude!

Cyniczz : wtf, noob. are you
blind?

use Glaze, it's the only
ability that will work!

hotguy15 was brutally killed by the
hydra.
hotguy15 is now spectating
Cyniczz.

hotguy15 : aw, man

Cyniczz : you're such a noob, dude.

hotguy15 : hey!

Cyniczz : i'll take over. watch.

I clicked the 'Ice' element attack. A beam of crystallized water hit the hydra square in the center of its chest. It swerved a little to the left, a little to the right. Its health reduced by a hundred points. Just fifty points more to go.

All the eight hydra heads spat out globules of acid. My health fell back by fifty points. I let out a string of words that would have my mom wash my mouth with iodoform.

I stunned the hydra and ice-attacked again. The ugly bugger doubled over and died.

Cynicz slayed the hydra.
Your team wins the game.

Fin.

hotguy15: gg! how did u do that????

Cyniczz : whatever. goodbye.

hotguy15: hey, friend me!

Cyniczz : uh, no thanks.

I pressed 'Quit Game'. The screen displayed my character profile page, with all my stats lined up next to my avatar like shimmering trophies.

LEVEL: 28

CLAN: Magician

HEALTH : 300

ATTACKS : Mind-control, Elements, Book of Thoth, shape- shifting, Stun

My avatar grinned at me with his toothpaste teeth and did a little ballerina twirl. His emerald sickle, which was twice his size, hung on his back. Its hilt was encrusted with ruby and turquoise. Spent 50,000 hard-earned drachma on it. It paid off.

He was wearing a red leather vest which was open on the front, black harem pants, and army boots. His hair was liquid gold and his eyes were ocean blue. His body was sculpted by a genius game designer back in San Francisco (thank you, genius game designer back in San Francisco). I glanced at my avatar's abs and pecs. They made me nervous.

I, Austin Chamberlain, king of all Burgerville, was the definition of obese.

I wished I were sculpted by that genius game designer back in San Francisco.

I shut down my laptop and placed it on my bed. I shivered as I passed my open window. The weather was so cold, even polar bears wouldn't want to live here.

After showering, I picked up my bag and rushed downstairs. At the kitchen counter, mom was spreading peanut butter on bread and handing it over to my sister, Amelia. Mom had her phone glued between her ear and shoulder. She looked like she was gonna stab the person on the other end of the line.

"I swear, Jerry, if you don't print the files by tonight, you will be run over by a car. It's a promise. And it won't be an accident. People will think it's an accident, but it won't be an accident. Jerry? Are you listening to me? Jerry--"

She threw up her hands and her phone fell to the carpet. "He cut the call. He actually cut the call! I must cut that man to size. Jesus, Austin. Austin? Come on, get your breakfast. You'll run late if you don't eat up in ten minutes."

I sat down next to Amelia and shoved a slice of bread into my mouth. I could see Amelia texting on her phone while munching on a PBJ sandwich.

"Who are you texting?" I asked.

"Hunter. Duh." She rolled her eyes, and I generously prayed for them to just roll out of her sockets.

Hunter. I'd never really liked that name. I also prayed that Hunter would hunt Amelia down and eat her.

I smiled.

"What?" Amelia scowled.

"Nothing."

"Ugh! Austin, your jeans!" my mom said, clutching her chest dramatically.

"What about them?"

"Um, well. All I can say is that we're going shopping this Saturday. You've definitely... outgrown your clothes."

"They fit fine."

"They're a little too skinny."

"They fit fine," I said slowly like my mom didn't understand me the first time.

Mom stared at me with her deep brown eyes. They exuded confidence, absent in my own. "I know you're in denial, but you've put on more weight than before. Either you have to thin down, or you have to buy new clothes. The way you look right now isn't very easy on the eyes."

I glanced at Amelia, who was now snickering silently. "You really do look more like a burger than usual, today," she said, sticking her phone into the butt-pocket of her jeans. "All you need is some mayonnaise and lettuce, and you'll be all done."

Amelia hiked her backpack onto her shoulders and got up. "Goodbye, mom." She kissed her on the cheek. "I'll see you tonight, Burger."

"Goodbye, Mel," Mom said as the door shut behind my horrible, horrible sister.

"Yeah, I'm leaving too," I said, pushing away my plate of plain bread slices. I hadn't eaten much at all, and my stomach was a hungry, rumbling beast, but I wouldn't let another bite of food enter me now.

I decided I'd eat later.

"Bye, Austin, honey." My mom smiled at me hastily and returned to her work.

I left the house into the winter wind, hoping for my fat body to freeze into something thin.

A/N: So this is the first chapter of the LGBT romance that I was talking about. The mythology in the video game will be convoluted and not very accurate, because it's a fictional video game and I thought it would be better the crappier it was. ;)
