Xyleena was standing at the edge of the balcony. She was still fascinated with the way the glass was sculpted around her. The way it was so clean and clear and beautifully curved around the top.

She shifted her gaze and looked down and saw people milling about with their umbrellas, as rain dripped down to the city she loved. She had only been staying in Tokyo for a month, but she felt so safe there. Well, she probably felt that way because her dad was staying with her... But still, this city was her favorite.

"Xyleena?" A voice interrupted her thoughts. "Do you want to buy souvenirs for your mom? This is your last day here after all." Her father asked, smiling lightly.

"Sure," she replied. "I'll change my clothes first."

Her father nodded absentmindedly, "Alright kiddo, I'll wait at the bus stop. Don't forget your umbrella."

When they reached the road intersection, her father tapped her shoulder.

"So, as a good father," her dad started to say.

"Yea, dad. I know. You'll go play arcade games and I'll go buy souvenirs," Xyleena rolled her eyes. "Such a responsible dad you are."

Her father faked a stern look, "Sheesh, young lady. Don't sass your dad."

She laughed and smirked, "Whatever."

"Buy some cute things for your mom, okay? See you later." He patted her head and walked away.

And so Xyleena walked. She stepped on the puddles on purpose and played in the rain. She was giggling and smiling as she heard her splashing footsteps.

When she arrived at the shopping district, she recalled what her mom said. Oh right, her mom told her that she wanted a pink Japanese kimono. Xyleena searched and searched, until she found the perfect one for her mother. A bright pink color with red floral patterns on it. 'Yes, this certainly will do,' she thought. When she's all done, she walked outside. The sky was clear again, the sunlight slashed through the white clouds, making her skin warm.

But that was when she saw it.

A boy, falling and tumbling down from the building across her.

Xyleena's eyes widened in horror.

The boy hit the ground in just a matter of seconds. Xyleena could hear the sickening crack of bones and the collective gasps from people around the shopping district. The people around her was astounded, as if a spell had prevented them from moving. A look of disbelief and shock between them all.

It's only a matter of time until they all start to panic...

And true to her thoughts, all hell did break loose. People shouting incoherent words and chaos ensued all around her

She took a deep breath and calm herself. She didn't realize what she was really doing as her mind started taking over her body. She remembered clearly what her teacher had taught her.

First, call for help.

"Help! Call the ambulance! Or hospital!" Xyleena shouted in Japanese. She didn't wait for any response and directly walked over to the boy.

Approach the victim. Introduce yourself if victim is still conscious. Make sure surroundings are safe to help the victim. Analyze his wounds.

She dropped the bag of kimono when she's close to the boy. The boy was groaning in pain. His leg was twisted and misshapen. Blood started to flow from his head, and Xyleena suspected that the boy had break his backbone since the backbone had cushioned his fall.

She tried to speak in Japanese, though her accent was so bad. "I'm a first aider and I'll care for your wound. Can you understand me?"

The boy tried to nod, but couldn't do so. He neck was hurting so badly.

"I'll take that as a yes. Just try your best to stay awake okay?" And Xyleena started her work.

First, the head. Apply pressure to the injury.

She did it but she didn't have any bandage or dressing with her to cover the wound.

I'll use the kimono then. I can still buy another one later.

Xyleena placed the kimono over the wound but it's too big. She tore it in two and used the kimono's cord to secure it in place.

Okay, done. Now the leg. Is he still conscious?

She got closer to him checked his breathing and pulse.

Breathing good enough. Pulse, not so much. Dislocated leg. I'll need to immobilize it. Aha, I'll use the other part of the kimono.

She did it quickly and went to check his pulse again.

Not good, not good at all. His breathing is getting more irregular too. Oh no...

She resorted to the last option. She went on top of him, and being a careful person she had always been, she didn't let her weight to be pressed against him. She opened his mouth and compressed his chest thirty times. And she put her mouth onto his. 'My first time...' she thought wistfully. She breathed two times in his mouth and did the same sequence all over again. Ten times altogether.

And then his eyes fluttered open. To this day, Xyleena can still remember the dark brown shade and the flecks of black in his eyes. He was gazing intently at her and she stared back. She could hear a soft voice from his mouth, "Takeshi Evanstone." Xyleena blinked.

Ah, so that's his name...

After that, the ambulance came. She told the nurses and doctor his condition and what she did to him. When he was carried to the stretcher, she went to whisper in his ear and said, "My name is Xyleena Jenkins. I hope you'll be okay."

How could she ever forget the boy she saved? That's how she first met him after all.
