"Brokens?"Zane asked the woman. "What in the world? She is definitely not," I throw my hand over his mouth before he said anything else.
"What are Brokens?" I pulled my hand from his mouth.
His aura (that's what I figured it was) turned absolutely red. He was mad at me.
The old woman sat down. I began to wonder how old she actually was. "About 18 Years ago one of our prophecies prophesized a prophecy. It said that 5 Brokens were to defeat a darkness that wanted to enslave our race and reveal us to the humans."
"I understand the reason we need to be used for the enslaving, but revealing us to the humans makes no sense." I was so confused that I just had to talk aloud.
"This darkness is confusing us too. And that is why we are trying to find all of the 5 Brokens," a guy said walking in. He looked like he was the same age as me. His presence in the room made me stumble.
Zane grabbed my arm. I felt him become tense. I looked up at him. His face told me he didn't trust the guy.
"Who are you?" I asked for Zane.
The woman answer for him," This is,"
He interrupted her," I'm Skyler Bell." He watched my every move like he was reading my emotions. Then I discovered that was his ability.
He smiled because I knew he knew I thought he was good-looking. I groaned. "I know your ability."
"That's ok. I wasn't hiding it." Skyler smiled.
"Do you two know each other?" the woman asked.
We both looked at her and laughed. Zane tensed up again.
Blaire, get on with whatever you are trying to do. I don't like him. Zane projected to me only.
Some more people came in the already overly crowded room. Zane pulled me into his arms. They all looked at him. All their auras were about the same color as I watched them. Their auras were all a murky maroon color that looked like blood mixed with rich soil.
"Who are you?" the woman asked.
"We are from Into the Cupboard," a man with white hair said. He didn't look any older than 35, but he had naturally white hair.
"Can you lift your shirt?" a woman with red hair and blue eyes asked.
I nodded. I pulled my shirt up to my navel. All of them gasped. Even Skyler. I quickly pulled my shirt back down. They looked at my face again like they came out of a trance. They looked like they had seen a ghost.
"I have to leave," I said pulling myself out of Zane's grasp.
I walked outside of the room and down to the bottom floor. As I approached the door, three men appeared from outside. They stopped. Then shook their heads when they saw I had my mind set. They let me through.
I walked straight into a massive crowd of people. Nothing happened. I was excited. As I was about to walk down to the store, I heard a scream. I knew it wasn't mine this time. A woman right in front of me was covered in a dark shadow. Her screaming stopped abruptly. Her neck was exposed and her arms were out like she was welcoming the rain to her arms. She snapped her neck up so she could see me.
"Blaire Thames, you are different from every one of the Brokens because you aren't a Broken. You are his daughter. And he wants you to stop playing games and join him. Your Birthmarks are from your mother; your Mark is from your father. Don't forget who he is and you will not be Marked in such an unnoticed place next time," the woman said to me. She started to fall, but I caught her.
