Hey guys I'm just letting you know before this begins that the rest of the story will not be written in a journal format like the first chapter. Enjoy the story! XOXO,Murf                              PS. There will be cursing and perhaps sexual content *wink wink* in here so if you don't like that kind of stuff then you can stop right here
"Jonas Marsalis! Get your ass down here right this instant we're leaving." Jonas groaned. Today was the day he had to leave for the dreaded summer camp. Thoughts raced through Jonas's mind: " maybe if I don't get up, they'll leave without me. No that wouldn't work. Maybe if I killed a man and went to prison, I wouldn't have to go." Before Jonas could even lift his covers, Mrs. Marsalis emerged from his door to throw a shoe at him in attempt to wake him up. Jonas sleepily shoved an ironic T shirt over his messy mop of black curls so graciously passed down by his father. He shoved his half awake legs into some skinny jean (was his sexuality ever a wonder to his parents?) He grabbed his faded duffel bag filled with whatever smelled half decent off the floor clothes. And  then he begrudgingly climbed in the back of  his mother's mini van. He knew this was going to suck. Once they arrived at the bus station that would be taking them to camp. Jonas was only half listening as his father gave a long speech about how "Jesus can save you blah blah blah there's still time yadda yadda yadda" you know, the regular homophobic bullshit. Finally, Jonas gave a halfhearted goodbye as he climbed up the surprisingly steep stairs to the bus. Then, he fell down those same stairs after staring into the ocean blue eyes of another boy. He sat there calm and collected. His blond hair glistening in the ever so slight sunlight coming through the clouds. (Okay you would trip too) Jonas scrambled to sit right next to this angel boy. "H-hi my na- ame is Jo-onas." Jonas stuttered, dropping all his bags. The boy laughed. Not in a mean way, but it was as soft as the tinkling of a bell. "Hi my name is Luka." The boy smiled, holding his hand out. Jonas shook it, dropping another thing in the process. Luka laughed again, and Jonas fell more in love with each movement he made. They talked as more people filled in the bleak seats of the charter bus. Through talking to Luka for what seemed like ages, Jonas found out that Luka was bi and here because his raging homophobe of an aunt sent him here (his parents are both in jail). Then the bus started to move. 10 minutes later, the bus abruptly stopped. "Are they gone?" A quiet voice said from the back. Then from the front two people jumped up and shouted "WELCOME TO GAY CAMP" pride flags fell from the ceiling. Balloons spewed from the back. "Take a pronoun button and pass it around!" One of them picked up box of metal pins with the words "they/them" ; "she/her" ; "he/ him" ; and "ze/hir" the other one handed out name tags for us to fill out with our name and what part of the lgbt+ community we are. Then the boys at the front finally did some explaining " Hi I'm Jamie" the first one said, pointing to himself "and this is Alex, my boyfriend" he added to his previous statement with a kiss to Alex. "We started this camp to encourage kids to be themselves despite what your parents say." Alex continued. "So let's have fun this summer! Can I get a hell yeah?" Jamie yelled. Then the lesbian across the isle from Jonas, who hadn't said a thing the whole ride yelled in response "HELL YEAH" with her fiery red pigtails almost falling out. And Jonas smiled for the first time since he came out.
