The Little Mare-Maid

Chapter 5

While Twilight Sparkle and Spike were staring out the window, Pinkie Pie accidently knocked some alicorn treasures over, making a lot of noise. Twilight Sparkle turned around, and gasped. "Pinkie Pie!?" Twilight Sparkle said in shock. Pinkie Pie glared at Twilight Sparkle, and said "Twilight, what are you-?! How could you?! What is all this?!" "It's, uh, it's just my collection." Twilight Sparkle answered nervously. "Oh, I see. Your collection. Hmmm." Pinkie Pie said as she tried to calm down before she started to get angry again. "IF YOUR FATHER KNEW ABOUT THIS PLACE, HE'D-!" "You're not gonna tell him, are you?!" Spike asked stopping Pinkie Pie from yelling. "Oh, please, Pinkie Pie, he would never understand!" Twilight Sparkle said pleading to her friend. Pinkie Pie calmed down, and said "Twilight, you're under a lot of pressure down here. Come with me, I'll take you home, and get you something warm to drink." As they prepared to leave, Twilight Sparkle noticed some colorful lights shining through the window. "What do you suppose?" Twilight Sparkle said as she ran out the library, and out to the docks in Ponyville as Pinkie Pie yelled out "Twilight? Twilight!. When she arrived at the docks in Ponyville, she saw fireworks in the sky around a ship, a few miles away from where Twilight Sparkle was. Pinkie Pie and Spike arrived at the docks in Ponyville, while Twilight Sparkle was looking at the fireworks.

"Twilight, what-what are you-holy sweet Celestia!" Pinkie Pie said in shock as Twilight Sparkle got on one of the little boats, and began to paddle to the ship. "Twilight, Twilight! Please come back!" Twilight Sparkle ignored Pinkie Pie, and she made it to the ship. She climbed on the right side of the ship, and smiled at what she saw. She was watching many alicorns having a party, and Winona was dancing to the music feeling happy. Then, she suddenly stop dancing as she smelt something. Realizing that Winona was coming, Twilight Sparkle immediately hid away from sight. She felt like somepony was breathing on her, and she turned to see Winona panting, and smiling at her. Winona licked Twilight's face, and she heard somepony whistle, and said "Winona, here girl!" As Winona ran off, Twilight Sparkle came out of her hiding spot, touched her licked cheek, and smiled. "Hey, come on, mutt, whatcha doing, huh Winona?" Prince Dusk Shine said as Winona ran up to him, and began to play with him. Twilight Sparkle silently gasped as she looked up at Prince Dusk Shine who said "Good Girl." Twilight Sparkle began to blush and smile. Before she knew it, she started to fall for him, because she found somepony who's just like her.

"Hey there, Twilight!" Fluttershy said as she flew down on Twilight Sparkle. "Quite a show, huh?" "Fluttershy, be quiet!" Twilight Sparkle quietly yelled out. "They'll hear you!" "Oooh, I gotcha, I gotcha." Fluttershy said as she got closer to Twilight Sparkle. "We're being intrepidatious. WE'RE OUT TO DISCOVER!" Twilight Sparkle got Fluttershy to stop talking, and looked at Prince Dusk Shine who was dancing with Winona while playing his flute. "I've never seen an alicorn this close before." She said as smiled at the sight of the alicorn prince. "Oh, he's very handsome isn't he?" Fluttershy looked at Winona, and said "I don't know. He looks kinda hairy and slobbery to me." "Not that one!" Twilight Sparkle said as she chuckled, and turned Fluttershy's face to see Prince Dusk Shine's face. "The one with a pair of wings." All the partying stopped when the alicorns heard Cranky Doodle Donkey say "Silence! Silence! It is now my honor and privilage to present our esteemed Prince Dusk Shine with a very special, very expensive, very large birthday present."

Prince Dusk Shine smiled, and said "Ah, Cranky Doodle, you old beanpole, you shouldn't have!" "I know." Cranky Doodle Donkey said smiling. "Happy Birthday, Dusk Shine." Two alicorns pulled down the wrappings to reveal a statue of Prince Dusk Shine in his heroic pose. He looked at it in total dismay while Winona just growled. "Gee, Cranky Doodle. It's, uh, it's really something." Prince Dusk Shine said as he looked at the statue more closely. "Yes, I commissioned it myself." Cranky Doodle Donkey said. "Of course, I had hoped it would be a wedding present, but..." Prince Dusk Shine stopped Cranky Doodle Donkey from talking any further, and said "Come on, Cranky Doodle, don't start. Look, you're not still sore because I didn't fall for Princess Sunset Shimmer of Manehatten, are you?" "Oh, Dusk Shine, it isn't me alone." Cranky Doodle Donkey said as Prince Dusk Shine looked out on the ocean on the right side of the ship where Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy hid from sight. "The entire kingdom wants to see you happily settled down with the right mare." "Well, she's out there somewhere." Prince Dusk Shine said. "I just-I just haven't found her yet." As Twilight Sparkle smiled, thinking that she could be Prince Dusk Shine's right mare to settle down with, Cranky Doodle Donkey said "Well, perhaps you haven't been looking hard enough."

"Believe, Cranky Doodle, when I find her, I'll know." Prince Dusk Shine said. "Without a doubt. It'll just-bam!-hit me! Like lightning." As if on cue, lightning and thunder appeared, and the sky grew dark. "Hurricane is coming!" An alicorn sailor said as Prince Dusk Shine, and the other alicorn ponies scrambled around trying to keep the ship together. "Stand fast! Secure the riggin!" A storm suddenly hit, and the wind grew stronger as Fluttershy said "Whoa! The wind's all of a sudden on the move here!" As she got blown away, she said "OH! TWILIGHT...!" The ship crashed through the storm, and the alicorn pony who was steering the ship, and the wave crashed onto the ponies. Prince Dusk Shine used his magic to steer the ship. On the right side of the ship, Twilight Sparkle tried to hang on for dear life, but she screamed as the wind blew her over, and she fell into the water. When she resurfaced from the water, lightining struck the ship. She gasped in horror as the ship got caught on fire. "Look out!" Prince Dusk Shine called out as ship crashed onto the rocks, and knocked them off the ship.

Prince Dusk Shine recovered, and used his magic to transport his birthday present to somewhere he doesn't know about. Cranky Doodle Donkey felt like he couldn't swim, but Prince Dusk Shine rescued him as he said "Cranky Doodle, hang on!" Then they heard barking, and they looked up to see Winona, barking for help. "Winona!" Prince Dusk Shine said in horror. He then spread his wings, and started to fly to the burning ship. The mast came crashing down, but Prince Dusk Shine was quick enough to dodge it. The mast crashed down, and the fire started to spread to the guns and fireworks. Winona barked for Prince Dusk Shine to help her. "Jump, Winona!" Prince Dusk Shine said. "Come on girl, jump! You can do it!" Winona jumped on Prince Dusk Shine's back, and he carried her to the other side of the ship, but a part of the ship gave out, and Prince Dusk Shine got stuck, but he tossed Winona overboard, and she swam to the lifeboat. Prince Dusk Shine struggled to get his hoof out of hole as the fire started to spread to the gun powder. "Dusk Shine!" Cranky Doodle Donkey called out as he got Winona into the lifeboat. The fire spreaded to the gun powder, and the ship exploaded much to the shock of Cranky Doodle Donkey, and the alicorn pony sailors.

Twilight Sparkle gasped in horror, and immediately swam to the damaged ship, and started to look for Prince Dusk Shine. Just when she was about to give up, she turned to see an unconscious Prince Dusk Shine with a broken wing hanging on to a piece of driftwood. He started to sink into the water, but Twilight Sparkle then held her breath, and dove right in. She grabbed Prince Dusk Shine, and swam back up to the surface. Once they made it to the surface, Twilight Sparkle began to carry Prince Dusk Shine to the beach in Canterlot as the ship continued to explode.
