I woke up to the dreary lights of the hospital. I looked down at my arm and saw the IV sticking out of it. A wave of nausea hit me and the room blurred. After the nausea had calmed down. I looked around and saw Aiden sitting in the chair beside my bed.
"Hey Aiden.", I whispered.
"What? Oh, thank God you're awake. Stay right here and I'll get the nurse.", he said relieved.
"Hey Aiden I kind of can't go anywhere", I said gesturing to the IV in my arm.
"Okay yeah one sec.", he said walking out of the room. I sat there thinking about why I got in here. Then it hit me they're dead. Oliver, Anthony, and Richard are gone. Just to let you know I'm not the crying type. I don't cry at the slightest provocation, especially if it's in front of people. So, I just sat there mulling over what to do. I was also in shock at what happened.
Then the doctor walked in and he said, "Hello Ms. Garner. It appears that you are lucky to be alive. You have a few broken ribs."
"How long was I out?", I asked concerned.
"Two days.", Aiden replied. "How's your head?"
"It's okay I guess. So, when do I leave?", I asked longing for a change of clothes.
"You can leave now if you wish. Just let me sign your papers and get the forms.", the doctor said leaving.
"Are you really okay?", Aiden asked sitting on the corner of my bed.
"Physically I am, but mentally I'm a mess. I don't know what to do. I just didn't think they could-", I broke off not wanting to cry.
"I know how it is. And I'm not going to tell you it's alright, because it's not. The police are looking for the culprit.", he said.
I felt a deep sense of dread. "They aren't going to find him. Are they?", asked resting my head on my knees.
"No.", he replied dejected and surprised. "The people they are looking for are not going to be found by the methods they are using.", he replied, but before I could respond the doctor walked in with the forms and a set of greens.
