Leana followed her mother outside into the Texas heat as Jim stayed behind in the kitchen. She found herself getting even more angry with him. Sure, Jim was a wealthy pilot and had bought them this amazing three-story home, but Leana couldn't stand him, and didn't understand why her mother was so set on marrying him.

"Someday you'll understand," was all her mother would say, but Leana was confident that she would never understand why her mother was in love with Jim.

"Hello!" Shann's voice called out to the two figures standing by the U-Haul truck. They stopped and turned to look at Leana and her mother as they approached.

They both waved back, almost in unision as Shann and Leana got closer.

Now that they had crossed the property line, Leana could see their faces. One of them was a woman, about her mother's age, and actually somewhat looked like a slightly heavier brunette version of her mother. She was dressed in typical soccer-mom attire: black yoga pants, a hot pink yoga shirt, and brand new Nike's.

This was all Leana could really capture of her because the guy standing next to her caught her attention, like the hot summer heat times one thousand. He. Was. Stunningly gorgeous.
