"Chapter Twenty-Nine - Protecting her?"

.Reece's POV.

After getting into my car and starting the engine, I made my way to Dave's. I took out once cigarette and light it up.

I smiled at the thought of Dave being wasted once again. He sure was my best friend. After Matt had died, he was the only person that has cheered me up at least a bit. Even if nobody could ever replace Matthew, Dave was now my best friend.

If I hadn't let him go that night, he would've still be here with us, and everything would've been the same. Three best friends. But that night he had left and not slept over like he did every Friday.

I should've stopped him...

If only I could see him again. Once more. My best friend.

I remember him always taking too many responsibilities. I pitied him so badly. He had a hard childhood. Either in school or at the company because he had to grow into a good businessman.

Even if we were at the same age, he was more of an adult than most adult today are, I mean look at me. He took responsibilites no teenager should have taken. His parents literally forced him into the company.

Sure he was hard working, but he had to grow up too early. While Cece and I played at the playground, he had to take business classes at the age of fucking thirteen.

He sure was the most intelligent boy I have ever met, but even these kids need a normal childhood. We all grew up in a normal neighborhood. Our parents wanted us to see how poor people live too. Sure we got what we wanted, but we also valued money much.

Even if I dot like admitting this, they did reach what they wanted.

They were strict, at least not only Matthew's, Cece's parents were strict too, always forcing her to do her homework properly and over hundred times to get it into her brain.

At the age of fifteen she also was working at a diner, at least I heard of that.

When I compare these two, they are very much alike. Cecelia also had to take so many responsibilities and probably still does so.

One reason, why I held distance. Whenever I looked at her, I saw a bit of Matthew in her. The way she at times talked, the way she moved or even laughed. Not to much. They preferred to do act less than more, but when it came to opinions, and arguments, they always preferred more, always.

How I wish I never had held distance from her, maybe thing would've turned out differently.

I glanced to my right once more to see her house, before I stopped car and turned off the engine. I had reached my destination, and now would've instead of going to her house, go to Dave.

After ringing the doorbell several times, the door finally whipped open, reviling a wasted looking Dave. His hair all over the air, and his eyes red, he also had these hugh bags under his eyes, which made him look like he hadn't gotten proper sleep in months.
