"Today, we'll split into three groups. Group one will stay here and continue on building a wall and setting up camp. Group two will head south and scavenge anything you can; but like I said, food, blankets, and weapons are our main priority. Group three will do the same, but head north. Since the weather was colder, maybe there will be more winter supplies." As Clarke splits everyone into their groups, the sun starts to peak over the horizon. "We've got a week. Come back with plenty of supplies, or come back with everyone alive." The groups nods there heads, but worry is in their eyes.

"Octavia, your in charge of group one. Finn, your in charge of group two. I'm leading group three." The three groups stare at me with fear written all over their faces. This is our first full day on the ground and we are already on a mission. This is our first full day on the ground and it's a game of survival. I've never been good at comforting. I look to Clarke, who stands on the drop ship ramp with me. Her ocean blue eyes search for a brave face, but shows disappointment when she can't find a single one.

"I know that this is scary." She starts. The wind blows her lose strands from her face. "But the Ark sent us down to see if Earth is survivable, and so far it is. The oxygen levels on the Ark are plummeting and everyone up there has about four months to live. However, if everyone down here finds a logical way for us to survive, then we won't be the prisoners anymore...we will be the heroes." Some grins spread across the faces of the weak; a chance at showing them that they weren't the bad guys...brilliant Clarke.

We all head out our separate ways, saying goodbyes to our friends and preparing to make new ones. The first couple of hours aren't so bad. The further up we go the colder it gets which is a plus considering the fact we are all sweating to death.

"There's a river!" Monty, an Asian guy, says from in front of the group. The walk breaks into a jog of desperation. The next thing I know people are in the river whether they're swimming or drinking. I smirk from the side.

"Why don't you go out there?" Clarke says with a bright smile on her face. I can't tell if it's her or the cool breeze that sends shivers down my back. "You deserve a break."

"I'm not the swimming type, but if your too shy to go and make friends, I need to fill up my canteen." She gives me a little shove. Is she flirting with me?

"There they are!" Jasper says with a sarcastic tone. Everyone laughs and claps there hands. I look around, confused. Just a second ago they were frightened to death, now they act like toddlers at a birthday party. "My favorite couple." He continues.

"Excuse me?" Clarke gasps. Everyone snickers.

"It's obvious. The Princess and her knight." Jasper sighs, sinking himself into the water and the fantasy. I shift uncomfortably.

"The only thing that's obvious is how stupid you are, kid. We don't have time for jokes like this." Everyone is in an awkward silence. Clarke and I? It could never happen. In a world like this, where we have to watch our backs everywhere we go...this isn't a good place to make any type of connection. "Let's head out. We are still empty handed and it'll be dark in a couple of hours." Everyone files out, depressed and cold. Way to go, you killed their hope.

"Hey, my map says there's a bunker half a mile from here. We should probably set up camp inside it and then get as much supplies as we can." Clarke says behind me. Jasper has stored up some fury inside of me so I keep my mouth shut. The last thing I want to do right now is hurt Clarke. Not only is she gonna help lead, she's our voice of hope. She cleans up the messes I make. But she could never clean up the mess I made before I left the Ark. "Bellamy? I need your opinion on this too, you know. I can't do this alone." I still look straight ahead, my mouth clamped shut. Clarke pulls me aside and our eyes lock, her's pleading and mine admiring. "Please say something."

"Yes, your plan is brilliant." My voice is more sting than truth. I turn to walk again, but she pulls me back.

"What's wrong, Bellamy? Please tell me." She still grabs my arm. Even though my guards jacket is still on, the electricity seeps through. I take a deep breath.

"Not now." I can tell she can see the soft side of me, a side that I had never intended for someone to see. My chin begins to wobble but I turn and start to walk before she can see the tear fall down my cheek.

"If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." I roll my eyes as she runs to catch up. "You can't hide from it, Bellamy. Trust me, I've tried." For the first time, I see a blankness in her eyes.

"Then maybe, once this is over, we can tell each other." I give her a hopeful smile. "Because after all, the princess does need her knight, right?" I sigh under my breath and she burst out laughing. It's a laugh I never want to stop hearing. It's a laugh I never want to forget.

"Is this is?" Charlotte yells. We run up to meet her. She points to a large, square, metal volt that rests on the ground."

"Yep. This is it." It takes three men to get it open. A cloud of dust shoots into the air. "Alright everyone get in and get comfortable. It's going to be a long night."

"But at least we're alive to get another nights rest." Clarke corrects with a prideful grin. Like I said, she bring hope wherever she goes.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for reading! Don't forget to please tell me how you think this chapter was and vote if you liked it. It wasn't edited so sorry about that😁 But I needed to get a chapter up. So I was thinking that I would do the next chapters from other people's point of view from the other groups in the story. Like Octavia's view and then back to Clarke. And then Finns view and back to Bellamy...what do you think of that?!?
