I met Damian when I was in 6th grade back in 2027. It was my first time going to a public school. However, I wasn't all that thrilled.
*flashback*
It's my first day of school, and I already have a stalker. Everywhere I go, this boy follows me. And when I go to the bathroom, he just waits outside for me to come out. I try to act like I'm not bothered by it, but it's beginning to tick a nerve I don't think he wants to mess with...
As I was walking down the empty hallway, I could hear his footsteps quietly sneaking behind me. I suddenly stopped, turned around, and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, slamming him against the lockers.
"WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME EVERYWHERE??!!" I yelled at him. He was shocked and scared, sputtering out nonsense, then pushed me away and ran. I kinda felt bad, but hopefully he'd leave me alone. As I was walking home, I noticed he was following me again. I ran ahead and hid in the alley against the building wall. As he passed by looking confused and lost, I pulled him into the alley and covered his mouth.
"Scream and I kill you." I whispered, my face barely inches from his.
I could hear him moan "what?" Under my hand.
I let him go and pushed him against the wall.
"I'll ask you one more time. Why are you following me?"He sighed. "Listen, I don't want any trouble. It's just... I'm kinda new around here. I come from a, uh, I guess you could say 'troubled' home. Making friends isn't exactly my specialty."
I gave him a confused look.
"So you followed me around all day? What the hell is wrong with you?"He furrowed his eyebrows. "Nothing is wrong with me." I could see him loosen up. "Like I said, I'm just not good at making friends."
"I can see why.." I replied sarcastically.
I let him go and he rubbed his jacket, straightening it out.
"Man, you're so weird...""No I'm not!" He yelled.
"Yeah, whatever."
I began to walk away, but the boy suddenly gripped my arm and pulled me back.
"Wait... At least give me a chance will ya?"
I looked to him and tilted my head acting as if I was thinking about it.
"Mmmmmm........ no." I laugh and walk away. The next day at school, and this boy is STILL following me! I wait until the end of the school day to talk to him.
"Ok. What do you want."
"I told you yesterday. I just want to be friends."
I sighed.
"Why'd you have to chose me, of all people..." I fold my arms and curl my lip as I look to him, pondering my thoughts. "You're pretty persistant." I finally smile and he does so as well in return. "Fine, we can be friends.""Thank you." He said with an exhausted sigh. "My name is Damian. What's yours?"
"Destiny..." I reply.
"Cool! I'm so happy we're friends!" The boy continues giving me a goofy smile and follows me home. This continued for the rest of the school year.
At the end of the school year, when there was only one week left, I accidentally bumped into one of the 8th graders, making him drop his books. I tried to help him by picking them up for him, but anger sparked in him and he pushed me against the lockers.
"Hey punk! Watch where you're going!""Get off of me creep!" I yelled back, trying to push him away.
"Oh so you think IM a creep?!"
He was about to punch me, when out of no where Damian grabs his arm and twists it, then pushing him to the ground and punches him twice. I pull him off and we run out of the school down the street. Once we stop running, we both take a moment to catch our breath then start giggling like the children we were. Without any word, I give him a 'thanks' hug.
