Just One Line [ON HOLD]

Part 1

I was in English class and it was before the bell had rung so I was just listening to music then my favorite song came on.

"I made a mix tape straight outta '94 I've got your ripped skinny jeans lying on the floor."

Those are the first words I said to start English that day, me a freshman in a room full of seniors. There were scattered applause and some odd looks but the only person whose reaction I cared about was Noah's. I've liked him since the beginning of track season and I really hoped that this was one of the days he would be late to English. Nope the world was against me and Noah heard me and he was applauding me . I gave him a shy smile and blushed a little.

After this mornings events I was really hoping to get to track practice and get this day over with. I arrive outside and run my warmup lap and head over to shot-put and do my stretches with the rest of the girls throwing team. The guy throwers start heading over and Noah is there and he grins at me devilishly like he's got something planned and as soon as the guys arrive they all bust out singing the lines I sang in English this morning. I'm not that bad of a thrower so when I grabbed a shot and threatened to throw it the guys knew to run. Later while I was at shot with Noah and Faith the 2 best throwers on the team in shot my dad called and said he couldn't pick me up so I needed to find a ride. I like Faith and all but it can't ride in a car with her because I might punch her. So Noah was my only other option. Practice ends soon after my dad calls and I get in Noah's car and he turns on the radio the only thing I hear is

"You look so perfect standing there in my American aparrel underwear."

And then Noah starts to drive as I let out a massive groan. We arrive at my house and my sister is there with her kids. Noah pulls into my driveway and I get out. Noah is still in my driveway because I hadn't gotten all of my things my sister approaches me and asks

"Who's this?"
"This is Noah and he's noah-thing more, Kayla."
"You 2 are so together."
At the same time Noah and I say "NO WE'RE NOT!"

Then Noah pulls out of my driveway and heads home.

"Kayla, do you have to ruin everything."
"I'm just looking out for my little sis, you know I love you Ema, and I don't want you to get hurt."
"I'm a big girl I can handle it myself."
