" You're...a...a Demon?" I say, shock and a hint of anger in ny voice.

" yeah." Evon says, rubbing the back of his neck, staring down at the floor and wearing an expression of sadness.

" This doesn't make sense! Why? I—" I am abruptly interrupted by the sound of voices.

" — heard a sound in this area" the coarse voice says.

Evon and I look at each other and Evon quickly takes out a vial, drinking it down, a face of disgust quickly appearing and disappearing. A light momentarily blinds me before I see Human Evon before me.

He throws the book back onto the shelf and grabs my hand pulling me towards the secret exit. He reaches into the tall, wooden bookcase and pushes a small clip on the underside of a shelf. The bookcase swings open and we dash into the dark corridor. Evon pulls the bookcase closed and we run down the corridor in complete blackness . Evon stops suddenly, breathing heavily.

He says something i cant make out and suddenly a warm light glows. I look for the source of the light and come to rest my eyes upon a small flame that sits in the palm of Evon's hand. I stare with amazement but before i can ask any questions Evon continues fowards.
" come on! " he says when he notices i am still standing in shock.

We rush foward and Evon pushes on the stone in the wall, the stone wall before us, gliding open and letting daylight shine into the hall. We run out and I jump onto Tris.
" Go! I'll catch up!" Evon says.
I nod, still worried, but pull Tris into the woods and she gallops towards home.

We ride towards the cabin, my hair whipping in the wind, the tree branches grabbing at my skin, small cuts appearing on my bare skin as we rush through the dense forest. Fog has settled onto the land, making my vision limited.

I finally make it to the road, and pull back on Tris's reins, She halts to a stop and i lean down to look at the signs. I hear shouting from inside the forest, and pull Tris towards the cabin. We rush fowards and my heart pounds in my chest.

Evan's P.O.V
I've been riding through the forest for some time now, the Hunters long behind me now. I should hurry to Rize's and I cabin. We need to get out of the area before they find us.

When i arrive at the Cabin, I see no sign of Tris or Rize. I jump off of my horse, Shadow, petting his mane and tying him to the post outside the house. I walk in and it's dark. I light the candle situated on the wall. I see a note on the table and walk over, picking it up.

Evon,
Sorry I didn't wait for you, I have to be careful. They are searching for me and I can't take any risks. I've gone to the one place I'll find answers. I know I may very well be killed, so if I don't make it... Thank you. You have been a loyal companion and friend, and I will not forget what you have done for me.

Rize

I sigh and put down the note. I sit on the chair, and comb my fingers through my hair. I already know where she has gone but i am not afraid that she will be killed, but more of what she will find there.

Rize's P.O.V
I have been riding for a long time now, there are no towns in sight and the only noises I hear is the crunching of leaves under Tris's hooves and the howling of the wind.

My eyelids fall and rise as I fight sleep but my hand remains tight on my dagger. Tris stops and I flick my head upwards. I smell the air and a decaying smell invades my nostrils. I pull on the reins as Tris seems to become restless.

I look around and see something in the distance moving on all fours. I hear a moaning sound. And then a croak. A frog demon. Nasty creatures.
I jump off of Tris and grab my leather gloves. Slipping them on I grab my bow and place an arrow in the catapult. I steady it and see the frog moving around in the darkness.

Once it spots me it flicks it tongue out at me, i drop my bow and grab the tongue with both hands. Steadying with both my legs i free one hand and grab my dagger, the frog notices and begins to move around erratically. I quickly stab it's tongue and the knife into the ground. I grab my bow and re-load the arrow walking up to the still frog. It looks at me.

" take me to your leader"

" or wha?" It says, it's speecb obviously impaired by the dagger stuck into it's tongue.

I grab the arrow and hold the sharp end so close to the frog's tongue, he can probably taste the metal.

" i'll cut off your tongue."

His eyes narrow, but he is shaking slightly and i can sense his fear.
He nods his head.
I walk to the end of his tongue and grab the hilt of my dagger pulling it out, roughly. The frog demon croaks in pain.

" lead on " i say as i place my dagger against his throat.

The demon frog changes from his more demon-like form to a more human-like one. This surprises me as I had never seen a demon change like this. I had seen Evon's change but that was totally different. The frog still contained the featured of a frog but now it seemed far more human, but i do not lessen the grip on the dagger against his throat.

He guides me through the forest, sticking his tongue out occasionally, and blood dripping from the edges of his mouth.

" we're here." He says.

I release the dagger from its grip against the Demon's throat as I stare through the gates of the land known as Hell's Gate. In hindsight, this probably was a bad idea, because the next thing i know, a sudden throbbing pain appears in the back of my head, followed by blurred vision and then... Nothing. Just black.

When i awake, i look around the room i am in. It seems to be a dungeon. The room smells of mould, and the walls drip with perspiration. Before i can even really comprehend what is going on, i hear the metal door click unlocked and the squeaking as it swings open.

The light from the window behind me hides the person's face, but I immediately notice the red colour of their skin and realise, they are not human, but a demon.
