Chapter Five: "Another Side of You…Oh Boy, Won't This Get Interesting?"

So, the next day at Wizard Academy wasn't half bad. If you can believe it, Trevor and I were getting along pretty well, hell, I was even (somewhat) getting along with Carter too. But, there were still two things bugging me…first of all, that stupid spell that made me faint out of nowhere the night before, and the fact that I still hadn't figured out why Martin was so dead on keeping me away from that Cameron guy.

I couldn't help but wonder about these things in Mrs. Paxton's class, which was a big mistake, seeing as Mrs. Paxton is a complete and utter stuck up, and once she caught me, as she put it 'slacking off', she freakin' yelled at me in front of the entire class.

"Miss Brenner! When you come to my class, I expect you to listen to my lessons! Not slack off!" Mrs. Paxton shouted at me, which caused me to immediately snap out my daze, I hadn't really noticed I was in.

"Y-yes Mrs. Paxton!" I shouted, sitting up straight, very quick like. Everyone started snickering.

"Alright, that's enough! Be quiet and listen!" Mrs. Paxton yelled, and then went back to giving her useless lesson.

Embarrassed, I blushed, and looked down at my desk. Then, out of nowhere, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I looked beside me on my left, and saw that it was Carter.

"What?" I whispered to him.

"Are you okay sweetie?" He whispered to me.

Sweetie? What on earth? Alright, who are you and what have you done with Carter? I thought to myself.

"Huh?" I asked in a hushed tone, as my cheeks began to redden. "Y-yeah, I'm fine." I whispered, quickly turning my head away.

Okay, so maybe, in a way, things weren't going so great. But, this time, the only person who was bothering me, was me. For some reason, I felt as if something or someone was about to pop out of nowhere and scare the living shit out of me! I swear, if this spell was making me this tense now, when whatever's going to happen, hasn't even happened yet, I can only imagine how tense it'll make me once it does. Well, I know there are five more full moons this year, if I can figure out who casted that spell before the fifth full moon, I can…wait a minute, if I did find out who casted it, what could I do? I'm just one wizard, and a week one at that. If that happened, I wouldn't be able to stop them, unless I got some help from some more powerful wizards. No, that would mean having to tell someone about that spell, of which may end up just being a figment of my imagination. So, therefore, all it'd do would embarrass me.

Anyway, after that class was over, I got up and walked out of the classroom, but before I could even begin to make my way to my next class, someone grabbed onto my arm, and pulled me back slightly. I turned to see that it was, you guessed it, Carter.

"What?" I asked, in a slightly annoyed tone of voice, also blushing a little.

"Nothing, it's just, you seemed a little out of it in there, and I was wondering if you were okay."

"Not that you care, but yes, I'm just fine…I thought I'd already told you that in class?"

"You did, I was just double checking. And, how dare you say I don't care, I care, more than you think sweetie." He said in flirtatious tone of voice, which only made me blush even more.

I looked down and noticed he was still holding onto my arm. "L-let go of me!" I shouted, pushing his hand away. "And, quit it with this flirtatious act of yours, it's creeping me out!"

He smiled. "Based on the redness covering your cheeks…" He began to say, reaching over and caressing my cheek. "…that's a lie." He said, finishing his sentence, and then inching his face down closer to mine, to where our lips were just a couple of inches away from touching each other.
