The Purpose

Chapter 3

After a quarter hours' horse ride, Aleah, Autumn, and Cora arrived and a magnificent castle.

"Welcome to the Palace of Rowance!" Cora exclaimed. Aleah was speechless. This was her new home, or at least she assumed it was considering she was the princess of Rowance.

"Who goes there?!" A deep, husky voice brought Aleah to her senses. "Sir Larogus. I wish to speak to the Queen. We have been sent by Aaro, the great wizard." Cora was extremely calm, considering they were only feet away from a troll, who was apparently guarding the castle.

"Very well." The troll replied, stepping aside. The girls hurried past. Inside, the palace was gorgeous. Everything was of silver and gold. There were rooms upon rooms down the endless hallway.

"Cora, darling! Is that you?" Queen Amber danced around the corner, only to stop dead in her tracks. "Is that- oh my-" "AMBER!!!" Aleah sprinted to her sister, Autumn right behind her. "I can't believe your here!" Amber said.

"And now I'm Queen." Amber concluded her story. They had gone into a living area, where Amber explained everything that had happened over the last year, or in Rowance time, 18 years.

"William!" Amber suddenly asked a young man. "Yes, my Queen?" He had black hair, and a strong, broad build. "Fetch the finest carriage there is. And four of our finest horses. You shall take Autumn to the Palace of Cadence. My orders. When you get there, Autumn will know how to explain why I have sent you." "Of course." He said, and hurried off.

An hour later, Autumn has left to meet her new family, and Cora had gone back to her own home. Aleah was just getting up from the table in the dining hall. "Hello, you must be Aleah?" A beautiful girl of about 15 asked. She had long blonde hair and wore a dress that in a way resembled a maids dress. "Yes. And you are?" Aleah replied. "I'm Mia. The Queen asked me to be your maid. If you ever need anything, you can ask me." "Cool." "Allow me to show you to your room." Mia said with a smile.

"This is beautiful! It's probably bigger than my whole house back home- I mean, back in the human world, anyway." Mia laughed. "Having trouble adjusting?" "Just a little bit, yeah." Aleah replied. "If you ever have a question or anything about Rowance., feel free to ask. I grew up here." "What was it like? Growing up here, I mean." "Well, it's normal for me. I've known nothing different, as you have. I assume that I had the same type of childhood that you did though. Playing dolls, having slumber parties?" "Yeah we did all that." Aleah laughed. "Maybe this won't be so hard. That is until we have to perform our purposes." Aleah continued with a sigh.  "What's your purpose?" Mia asked. "Well, I have to rescue Cora's sister from Zyrah with Autumn." "Oh! I've grown up with stories about her!" Mia said, worry sparking in her eyes. "Who is she anyway?" "Zyrah is the Queen of the Mountains. Well she's not a queen, more a dictator. Long story short, she's evil. She tempts and tortures anyone vulnerable enough to fall for it. Not to add pressure, but be careful, she could kill you in seconds."
