How Could I Be Mad? [One Shot]

"Please don't be mad at me, Calem." You said and you caught up to him. You just beat him in a Pokémon battle, and he wasn't happy about it. His self esteem was so perfect when you and the others started your journey, but every time you beat him it took a huge chunk out of it. "I'm not angry at you, ______. I'm mad at myself, I should be caught up to you by now."

You hugged him and he pet your hair. You loved Calem desperately, and hated the thought of him being mad at you. "I guess we should continue to the next town." You took that as a signal he wanted you to get off. You always tried to show subtle affection, and you were worried it was bothering him. "Right..." You sadly pulled off and walked ahead. What if he didn't feel the same way?

Then you felt Calem grab your hand. "Look at me, _____." He said in a stern voice. You took a deep breath and looked at him. "I'm not angry at you, okay?" He got a concerned look on his face. "I know," You pulled away, the thought of him not feeling the same way was eating away at you.

"______, what's wrong?" Calem walked next you. "I don't want to tell you." Calem wasn't satisfied with that. "Please, _____, your my best friend." Your heart broke. Best friend? A tear rolled down your cheek. Why were you getting so worked up? "You're so important to me, tell me what's wrong." You clung to him. Calem wrapped his arms around you and held you close.

"I hate to see you like this. Tell me what's wrong." You wanted to say it. Spill out all of your feelings. "I... I..." You couldn't do it, you were to nervous. Tears weren't falling like crazy, but you still found it hard to breath. "I love you." You finally said it, and you felt so embarrassed. "I'm sorry Calem, but I can't help it. I should just go." You tried to pull away but he kept a firm grip.

"No, don't go." He said as he held you close. "I love you too, so don't leave me." He whispered, sounding nervous. You held onto him, you couldn't believe it. "I'm... I'm sorry if I get fussy from time to time, but I love you. I could never stay mad at you." He titled your head up with his hand on your chin. "So don't ever think that I hate you."

Calem leaned in and you both closed your eyes. You lips touched, a spark went though your body. His lips were soft and kiss was gentle. It stopped your heart, but made it race at the same time. You two pulled apart, but stayed in each others embrace.

After a while Calem pulled back, but held your hand. "Let's get to the next town." He smiled at you, and you smiled back. You nodded and the two of you walked hand in hand to the next town.
