Darkness swirls and my muscles twitch as the overwhelming sensation of magic washes over my skin. A soft sigh escapes me as I allow it to cradle my form and surround me like a chrysalis. Allow it to transform me into something powerful and new. Something unfamiliar to this world or this existence. I could become a god if I truly desired. Though I must admit that the desire never truly crossed my mind or stuck there long enough for me to seriously consider it as an option.
There is something about this world though that seems to be off. As if it used to exist and I am only dreaming. It has the peculiar sensation of being both fantasy and reality as it swirls around me forming thousands of small bumps to form all over my skin sending pleasurable shivers down my spine.
I have never felt so good about myself or my existence before this moment. It almost feels like for the very first time that I am complete. Every piece of my being has finally found its destined place and who I was meant to be has finally come to fruition. My crimson eyes gleaming through the murky shadows as my lips curl into a smirk that feels so natural that I couldn't deny it passage onto my face. Could it be that I was meant to remain in the shadows alone and undisturbed? Free to be who I am without anyone telling me who I should be or how I should behave. The sweet freedom that the darkness brings is intoxicating.
My soul has found a place to truly belong and be at peace. I raise a hand and watch as flames and sparks crackle into existence on my flesh. My eyes follow their movements as they dance across my skin not blazing enough to burn my flesh but washing me in their warmth. I twirl my fingers and allow form the, to thread themselves through my fingers and orbit around them in a hypnotic dance. I click my fingers together and the flames and sparks vanish from sight as the sound echoes through the dark expanse that is this void.
Something in my chest thrums as I am pulled out of my puzzle and thrown into a room that is completely foreign to me. Something inside of me shouts out in recognition but it seems to fall silent just as quickly as it appeared, leaving me alone and confused as I kneel on the wooden floor of the room. I tilt my head to the side slightly with a blatantly curious expression on my face as I take in the form of a young boy with similar hair to myself. How truly fascinating.
He hums to himself as he fiddles around with the go,den pieces of the millennium puzzle. My eyes narrow in distaste as I stagger to my feet and wander over to his side. I tower over his seated form and peer over his shoulder as I study his progress. He see,s to have made quite a lot of progress in the reconstruction of my puzzle, but I can put help but notice by the blank look on his face just how obviously ignorant he is of just what he is holding in his hands. He has no idea what it is capable of or what it possesses.
I run a hand over the spikes of his locks, marveling at the similarity to my own. I never knew this to be possible for anyone outside of my family, and considering the sheer expanse of time that has passed I can't help but doubt the possibility that he is related to me. He pauses in his motions for a moment and his small shoulders seem to tense in anticipation of something. I can't help but chuckle at his reaction. It would appear that my little look alike has more perception than I gave him credit for.
"Grandpa?" He calls out hesitantly. A dangerous smirk forms on my lips as I run gentle fingers down the nape of his neck. He gasps as shivers race across his skin and he clasps a hand over the back of his neck and spins around in shock and confusion. His round, child like eyes are wide with fear as he looks around the room with a growing sense of anxiety. His amethyst eyes seeming to gleam in the light of the lamp, making his lightning bangs glow even brighter than before. His resemblance to me truly is astonishing. "Grandpa?"
"You know it's not him." I murmur softly into his ear making him gasp in shock. His face goes a deadly shade of pale as he recoils away from me. "Oh come now, there's no need to be rude now."
"Wh-who's there?"
"I am the one who calls that puzzle you hold home."
"The puzzle?"
"That is correct." I smirk. "I don't especially care for you tampering with it."
"I-I-I'm sorry, I thought that it was just another artifact." He stammers, his hands trembling as he struggles to sit firmly in his chair. I can practically hear his heartbeat roaring in my ears as his eyes slide shut as he forces himself to be brave. "I didn't mean any harm by it."
"Regardless of your intentions, I can not allow it to continue."
"Take it." He whispers fearfully. "It belongs to you, so take it."
"That's correct, it does belong to me." I murmur smoothly as I kneel down before him. "But I cannot allow the only person to tamper with it live."I quickly wrap my fingers around his throat and squeeze slightly. The warmth of his fingers gripping desperately onto my fingers startles me as the world suddenly turns white.
I sit bolt upright as my breathing comes in laborious gasps, my skin covered in a sheen of sweat that flows through my nightshirt and dampens the blankets. My eyes are wide and my heart is hammering as I claw at my face in horror. What was I doing in that dream? Am I becoming a monster again? My eyes drift over towards the familiar shape of yugi peacefully sleeping beside me. My love for him seems to pour out of me from every single pore. How could I even dream of harming him? My fingers dig deeply into my skin as I struggle to repress the tears. Just how much a monster am I truly?
