She has a boyfriend? Why didn’t she tell us?! I continued walking down the uneven sidewalk, not caring where I end up. A few fans passed me, but I just ignored them, I was too busy focusing on jess. Did she invite him over just to make me jealous? No, she would never do anything like that. Did she notice that I was staring at her during the movie? So many questions fogged my brain as I continued walking. I came to a park, not far from jess’s house. I started swinging, and a new question popped in my mind. Why was I so affected by all of this? An old man sat down on the swing next to me and looked over at me. I stopped swinging and slowly turned my head in his direction. “whats wrong son?” he asked. “is it that obvious that somethings wrong?” I asked, and he nodded his head. “well…the girl I love already has a boyfriend..” I explained, and the man gave me a sad smile. “well let me tell you something, back when I was a teenager, I fell in love with the most beautiful girl, but she had a boyfriend as well. Each day, I would pass by her in the school hallway, and just smile at her. She would always smile back. One day, I saw her sitting in a corner, crying, so I walked over to her and talked to her. Turns out, her boyfriend had just broken up with her, so I sat there and comforted her. about a month later, she asked me out, and it had to be the best day of my life. We eventually got married, and we’ve been together ever since.” The man told me, and I sat there, wishing I could have a relationship like his. “I can imagine how happy you were.” I said, and the man smiled. An old lady sat down on a bench by the swings and she smiled at us. “hi honey, I was just telling this young man about how we met.” The old man told the women, and her smiled grew wider. “ah, what a wonderful day.” She said. The man got off the swing, and kissed the lady’s cheek. “well, I better get going.” I said, getting off the swing. “good luck.” The man said. “thank you, so much.” I said, and shook his hand. “bye.” The lady said as I walked towards jess’s house. As I neared her house, I started to get more and more nervous about how things would go when I went inside. I slowly twisted the door knob and pushed the door open. Jess was sitting on the floor with her head in her hands. She looked up when I closed the door, and I saw her red eyes, and mascara stained cheeks. “hey, whats wrong?” I asked, sitting down next to her. “jake broke up with me because he thought I was cheating on him with you.” She said, sniffling. I remembered the old man’s story, and I comforted jess. Nikki walked through the front door, and dropped the grocery bags she was holding when she saw jess’s face. “what did you do to her?” nikki asked, running over to jess. “j-jake broke up with m-me.” Jess said. “im going to kick his butt.” Nikki muttered, and ran out the front door.
