Gavin, could you pick up Mycroft? He's just texted me, and he's quite drunk. -SH

First, it's Greg, and second, why me? Why can't you or John pick him up?

I despise him, and Jawn is asleep on the sofa, looking very cute, so I don't want to wake him. So, that just leaves you, Gavin. -SH

Greg let out an exasperated sigh at Sherlock's inability to remember his name and the fact he had asked he to pick up someone he only knew from Sherlock's childhood stories. Despite Greg's annoyance, he replied:

Fine, but only this once.

I promise, Gavin. I'll send you the pub name and his address. -SH

Putting on his coat and leaving his house, Greg got in hid car and set off on his way to pick up Sherlock's brother.

When the DI got to the pub Sherlock had sent his the name of, he walked in and asked the woman behind the bar where he could find a Mycroft Holmes.

"Oh, he's over there," she pointed to a small, single-seated table in a dark corner of the bar. "He's drunk off his arse though, so be careful. He's a little loopy right now."

Greg followed the bartender's pointed finger to Mycroft's table. Upon seeing the man staring into his empty glass, his heart fluttered in a way it never had towards anyone else; butterflies stirred in his stomach, and he felt his face turn a light pink.

The woman snapped Greg out of his trance with a concerned "Sir?".

"Huh? Oh, sorry, I'll go get him." With that, the DI walked up to the table where Mycroft sat, his heartbeat quickening with every step. "Excuse me, Mr. Holmes?"

Mycroft looked up at him, causing his face to grow even redder than it already was.

"Um, I'm Greg Lestrade, I work at Scotland Yard with your brother Sherlock." He offered Mycroft a handshake, which he accepted shakily. 'because he's drunk' Greg assured himself 'he's not interested in you, you're just a ride home'. Although, despite Greg convincing himself that Mycroft didn't care about him, the DI couldn't stop a slight speck of hope from brewing in his heart as the handshake sent electric shocks up his arm and all through his body. "I was sent by your brother to pick you up, so... that's why I'm here."

By this time, Greg's cheeks could be mistaken for red tomatoes, and his heart felt like it would rip through his chest. Mycroft, being a Holmes, noticed his nervous behavior and change in complexion immediately, and correctly linked it to the DI being in love with him. Surprised and flattered that someone's heart could see enough good in him to form a loving connection, Mycroft decided to see how far he could push Greg before he gave in and admitted his feelings.

"Well, are you gonna just stand around being sexy or am I getting a ride home?" Mycroft slurred, a flirty look on his face.

"Uh" Greg hesitated, slightly taken aback. 'He's a flirty drunk... oh God!' He thought nervously before replying with a shy "I'll drive you home, sure."

Mycroft then stood up, pounced on Greg and wrapped his arms around his neck in a tight embrace which sent the DI's heart racing, and nearly knocked him on the floor. "Thanks, Gregory." Mycroft purred in the DI's ear before releasing him and walking out of the pub, leaving him in a love-struck daze until he snapped back to reality and followed him out of the pub.

"So, your place?" Mycroft smirked at the genius idea that entered his mind while stroking Greg's knee with his thin fingers.

The DI attempted to swallow the nervous lump in his throat, but, despite his best efforts, it stuck fast. He sighed before replying with a stern yet shaky voice, "No, Mycroft. You've caused me enough trouble, having to pick you up in the middle of the night from a pub 5 miles from my house. I'm taking you home, and I won't change my mind."

"Fine" Mycroft replied with a blank, robotic voice, removing his hand from Greg's knee. He immediately missed the loving contact, but covered it up by shouting at a car that had just overtaken him, in an act that would have been perfectly convincing to anyone other than a Holmes.

In the car, Mycroft was being as teasing as he possibly could, staring at Greg the whole journey with a pleading, flirty look that both quickened his heart, and filled it with guilt.

20 minutes later

"There you go, Mycroft." Greg said with a tint of sadness at the crippling fact that he would probably never see the man sat next to him again, avoiding eye contact, as he knew he would cry if he thought about the farewell too much. "Home..." He sighed forlornly, "sweet home."

A look of pity flashed over Mycroft's features before he slid across Greg's lap, lingering a little longer than necessary, and out of the car. Just as he was about to unlock his front door and step out of his life forever, the DI's voice called his name of its own accord and stopped him.

Mycroft turned to face Greg's nervous look and avoidance of eye contact, and, suddenly, the man's heart melted, and felt all the love and emotion that he had kept out all his life almost overwhelm him. "Um, I have something I need to tell you. Something that, if I don't admit now, I'll regret forever."

'This is it.' Mycroft thought, his heart beginning to race at what he knew Greg was about to say, 'He's going to admit it.'

"I..." a deep breath of preparation entered the DI's lungs before he continued. "I'm in love with you." Greg sighed in relief as what felt like a 10 tonne weight lifted off his shoulders.

"Oh, Gregory..." Mycroft's sigh was filled with sudden longing. "I used to think caring was a disadvantage, and that emotions were useless. Thank you for convincing me otherwise." He then ran to the DI and wrapped his arms around his neck tenderly, pulling him as close as humanly possible, until it felt as if they would merge into one person if the two got any nearer to each other. Greg tentatively wrapped his arms around Mycroft's waist, pulling him even closer.

All too soon, they pulled away, still maintaining the small distance between them, and stared into each other's eyes, occasionally glancing at the other's lips; they both knew what they wanted.

Greg and Mycroft both leaned in at the same time, their lips hesitantly brushing at first, sending shivers of longing all through their bodies, before connecting harshly and passionately, yet lovingly, before they both pulled away to breathe.

"My place?"

"I thought you would never ask."
