Alexis' POV
I bent down and picked up the pocket knife, opening up each little part looking for something that may come in handy. There was a knife, tweezers, scissors, and a screwdriver. I quickly ran over to my window to make sure my dad had actually left. His car was gone. I walked over to the door and started taking out the screws in the doorknob with the tiny screwdriver. After 5 long minutes, the screws finally came out and I opened up my door. Finally. I thought. Freedom.
I didn't bother grabbing any of my belongings. I barely owned anything anyway. I bolted down the stairs and stopped in front of the large wooden door. This is it Alexis, you're finally getting out of here. I slowly opened the door and checked to make sure the coast was clear. When I finished looking around I closed the door behind me and ran full speed down the street, not looking at anything but the path in front of me.
I felt so free, but so lost at the same time. I had nowhere to go, nothing to eat. What was I going to do now? I could find a homeless shelter, or make a small shelter in the woods. I know I won't be able to survive without food or water for a long time so I decided against the whole 'going into the woods' thing.
I was just about to turn the corner when I bumped into something hard and fell onto the sidewalk. I looked up to see a boy about my age, standing over me with a concerned look on his face. "Oh my god! Are you okay?!" he worriedly questioned. "Yeah. I'm fine." I answered in a hushed tone. I couldn't help but stare straight into his gorgeous green eyes. They looked so bright and full of joy. Unlike my sad grey eyes.
"I'm really sor-" he stopped and took a good look at me. "Why are you crying?" I hadn't actually realized I was crying until he mentioned it. "I don't know," I lied. He quickly held out his hand and helped me up off of the cold sidewalk. "You don't look too well," he said slowly. "Would you like to come stay with me at my apartment?" I stared at him questionably. I didn't even know his name. "I don't think that's a good idea," I spoke. "Why not?" he said frowning. "It's a long story. Plus, I don't even know your name," I laughed a bit at the look on his face. "RIGHT! Sorry," he laughed. "The name's Harry. Harry Styles." He smiled cheekily and stuck his hand out to me. I accepted his hand and shook it formally. "I'm Alexis Miller," I smiled.
"Do you have a place to stay Alexis?" he asked furrowing his brow. "Not exactly," I answered quietly. He looked at me seriously, "Well, you could stay with me for a while if you'd like." "Are you sure?" I questioned. "We just met and I don't want to get in the way-" He quickly cut me off, "Of course not! You wouldn't be in the way at all." "Oh, okay," I gave in. "Great!" he seemed very happy with me accepting his invitation. He took my hand in his and led me to his home. It was about 2 or 3 blocks away from where we had been talking.
He pulled his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the front door to reveal a beautiful living room filled with a brown leather couch set, a flat screen tv, and some cute little lamps.
"Come on in," he ushered me inside with a small hand motion. I looked around his house for a bit. It had a living room, a kitchen, one bedroom, two and a half bathrooms, and a laundry room. It was small, but cozy.
I yawned loudly causing Harry to chuckle. "Somebody's tired." I nodded my head up and down quickly. I started to walk towards the couch but Harry put his hand on my shoulder to stop me. I flinched from his touch. He pulled away quickly, "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." "It's okay," I gave him a small smile before continuing over to the couch.
"Wait," Harry said, stepping in front of me. I look at him with a confused expression on my face. "The couch isn't very comfortable, you could sleep in my bed if you want," he has a look on his face that almost looks....hopeful? "Umm...yeah sure," I answer hesitantly. He grabs my hand and leads me into his bedroom. "Uh...Harry?" I say, looking at the floor. He looks at me confused, "Yeah?" "Do you mind if I umm take a shower? It's been a long day." "Yeah. Of course," he smiles. He handed me a plain white towel and showed me how to work the shower. I thanked him and locked the door as he walked out and quickly hopped into the shower. Oh how I've missed taking showers.
I finished cleaning the dry blood off of my arm then quickly turned off the water. I grabbed my towel off of the hook and wrapped it around my body. I opened the door slightly and poked my head out. "Harry?" I looked around the bedroom for the curly-haired green-eyed boy. "Yeah?" he called from where I'm guessing his closet was. "Could I borrow some clothes? I didn't bring any." I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks from the embarrassment. "Sure," he said chuckling. He walked out of his closet and handed me a t-shirt and some plaid pajama pants. "Thanks," I smiled. I locked the bathroom door then got changed. I looked myself over in the mirror, I noticed the cut on my arm was now a huge scab. I couldn't let Harry see it. I peeked into the room and saw that he had turned the lights off. He won't see it in the dark. I'll be fine.
I rushed over to the bed and got under the warm covers next to Harry. By the looks of it, he was already sound asleep. I slowly drifted off into a deep sleep listening to Harry's steady breathing. It was soothing in a way that I couldn't explain.
Harry's POV
I was almost in a deep sleep when I noticed something right in front of my face. It kind of freaked me out so I quietly got out of bed and turned the lamp on to see what it was. Once the lamp was on, I realized it was just Alexis' arm. Just as I was about to turn the lamp off, I saw a long mark on her fore arm. I moved my head closer to her and studied her arm. There was a very large cut. It looked fresh, like it had just recently been cut into her arm. I couldn't help but feel bad for her as I studied the mark. I quickly snapped back to reality and turned off the lamp and got back under the covers. I'll have to ask her in the morning, I don't want to wake her. Before I fell asleep I thought to myself, It's not so bad that she wouldn't tell me. Right?
