I fumble around the kitchen in the dark, desperately trying to find an exit. I'd prefer to not be in a room with whoever the creepy voice came from.

"Penny," I whisper in the silence. "Art thou thither?"

"Yes," she replies. "Wherefore dost thou ask?"

"It's dark," I say flatly. "I wanted to make sure you were still here." Honestly.

The light suddenly returns to the mansion, and Penny and I rub our eyes, looking around the room.

"Hey," she says. "Weren't there chefs cooking in here a few minutes ago?"

I shudder. They were cooking the fish course of the lady's meal, and now no one is there.

"Who's doing this?" I call out. "Is someone else here? Show yourselves!"

The room, however, remains eerily quiet. All that can be heard is the creepy ticking and chiming of broken clocks, for some reason. I look around but other than Penny, there is still no one else in sight.

I walk around to see what the chefs were cooking. I see a large rotting sea bass (hey, it's at least a C+) on a platter, seasoned with toenails.

The chefs' toenails.

Well, probably.

"This is your last chance!" I shout, as I pull out a sword from nowhere in particular. Still no response.

"Ugh, just forget it," I say as I throw the sword out the window. I hear a scream outside. "I'm sure the cooks are just messing with us."

Penny picks up the meal. "Every second of my life is an eternity of misery," she says as she carries the fish corpse away.

"Thanks," I reply. "I could really do with a break." I rub my head and groan. What in the name of destiny's child is this night?

As I clean up the kitchen, since no one else is here to do it, I hear muffled yelling. I open the doors and suddenly the voice becomes clear.

"ROY!" Penny yells in panic. "ROOOYYYY!"

I stop in my tracks, with the cleaning cloth still in my hand. I drop it like it's hot and dash to the dining room, fearing for Penny's life.

I burst into the room and become paralysed with fear as I see Penny floating in the air. She looks like that girl from the Half Blood Prince.

A strange ghostly ghost stands below her.

"Well, well, well," says the paranormal creature with a laugh. "It looks like the only winning move was not to play."

Oh my Brett.

It's the ghost of poison past.
