In that moment she smiled
She smiled a smile so bright
But her eyes were broken and dead
Her laughter that felt so warm
Became faded, almost on repeat
From a better time
Before the lack of innocence
She wasn't living,
Just existing. A pleasant existence
One that those who weep over her coffin
Will be able to relate to,
With forced tears and fond memories
The guilt hidden in their performance of sorrow.
The perfected smile
Had the power to distract him at a glance
But he wasn't there for a limited time
He was there for lifetimes
But only when her broken eyes
Turned to him with surprise
Did he realize that she could be fixed again
