Passing Time

Max Grayson

It was a normal day for Max Grayson and his dad. They were heading to school and work when it happened. Max was getting his backpack together, when he heard a knock at the door. "Max, could you get that? I'm busy with something right now," yelled Max's dad from his office.

Max walked over to the door and opened it, to find two men standing at his door. "Hi, can I help you guys," asked Max. "NCIS, Agent Gibbs and Agent Dinozzo," said Agent Gibbs. Max nodded and let them in, he then walked over to the door for his dad's office and knocked. "Hey dad, there are two NCIS agents out here," said Max through the door. Max's dad walked out of his office and looked in the living room where the NCIS agents were. "Ok, thank you Max, now don't you have to get to school," said Max's dad. Max looked at the time, "Crap, I'm going to miss the bus," said Max as he ran out of the house. The NCIS agents heard the door open and close. Max's dad or Ray Grayson walked into the living room with the NCIS agents. "Sorry about that, my son was about to miss the bus," said Ray. "Mr. Grayson we are here to tell you that major Ford has died," said Gibbs. "What really, but I just saw him last night at the hospital with Max, he seemed fine when I went, the doctors even said that he would get out Wednesday," said Ray looking at the two agents shocked.

Gibbs and Tony looked at each other for a minute. " Do you think someone could have killed him," questioned Ray. "I'm not sure Mr. Grayson, but we will tell you if we find anything that might help you," said Gibbs looking at Ray with a certain emotion that Ray couldn't place.

Gibbs and Tony left after that. Ray Grayson walked out of his house and was about to start to walk to his car when out of no where there was a loud bang and Grayson was laying on the ground with a bullet in his head.

Gibbs and Tony weren't that far from the Grayson's house when they heard the shot. Gibbs turned around and started to head towards the Grayson's house. When they got there the person who shot Ray Grayson was long gone. "Tony call the school and get his son out of school," said Gibbs.

(By the way Major Ford was Ray's wife's father and Max is thirteen)-----Time Skip----------

Gibbs and Tony were back at the Naval Yard. They were waiting for Max and McGee to get back from getting Max from school.

McGee got to the Naval yard with Max. They walked out of the elevator. Max looked around and saw the two NCIS agents that came to his house this morning. "Your the two NCIS agents that came to my house this morning," said Max. Gibbs looked up at Max when he said that. "Hey your the kid from this morning, how old are you, looked ten or eleven," said Tony from behind his desk. "I'm thirteen," said Max.

Tony looked at Max for a minute, the kid look about 4'8 or 4'9 . "Wow, your short for your age," said Ziva. "I know that," said Max looking a little angry. Gibbs gets up from his desk and slapped Tony and Ziva on the back of the head. Max started to giggle, but stopped when Tony gave him a glare. "Max sit at my desk," said Gibbs. "Yes sir," said Max "you can call me Gibbs," said Gibbs. Gibbs walked away from the bullpen and walked to the directer's office.

Gibbs was walking back from the director's office and noticed that Tony and Ziva were not at their desks. "Hey Mcgee, where are Tony and Ziva," asked Gibbs. "Umm, I think they went to check out Max's house to see if they could find any sign of where our shooter had been shooting from," said Mcgee. Gibbs took in this information and nodded, Gibbs walked over to his desk and notice that his chair was turned towards the wall. Gibbs turned the chair around and saw Max asleep in the chair. Gibbs looked at Max and notice that he looked like a little kid. Gibbs pulled Tony's chair over and pushed his away far enough that he could get Tony's chair behind the desk but Max was still in reach if anything went wrong.

*Time Skip*

A little time later Tony and Ziva come back with some bags of bullets for Abby to look at. Tony walks into the Bullpen and notices that his chair is gone from behind his desk. He looks around and sees that Gibbs must have taken his chair, Tony also notices that Max is asleep in Gibbs' chair. Gibbs notices that Tony is in the bullpen and looks at him. " Hey Boss, I was just about to go get a chair for my desk," said Tony looking at Gibbs. Gibbs looked at Tony and nodded at him.

A couple of minutes later Max started to wake up from his little nap that he had. Max lifted his head and looked around and tried to figure out where he was, when the images of earlier come into his head, Max looks down at the floor, when he relises that he is in the bullpen at the NCIS office.

Gibbs notice that Max had woken up out of the corner of his eye. "Hello Max, it seems you've woken up," said Gibbs. Gibbs stood up and start around his desk, he looked at Max and gave him a look that said 'he wanted Max to follow him', Max got up and walked behind Gibbs toward the elevator, They both walked into the elevator, Gibbs pushed the button for Abby's lab, and they were off to Abby's lab.
