Alanis' POV
I hear someone absolutely wailing in Mr.Arden's office. Although I'm extremely hesitant, Mr.Chapero already lit a fire under my ass, I can't fail to complete another document delivery. As I'm approaching the sobs get louder and louder. I wonder what made someone that upset, At least they're getting help. Arden is a great counselor. I stop a moment to check my phone.
'12 missed calls' You have got to be kidding me. I already know that they're all from my ex, Adrien. God he's insane. Our breakup was horrendous. Loud. Violent. I'm glad I got out of that when I did, but I just can't bring myself to delete his number. Once I do that 5 years of my life is just....gone. My finger hovers shakily above the block number button.. I still can't do it. Shit. Why can't I jut get it over with? I don't love him. He never loved me. If he did he would have never done the things he did. He is absolutely disgusting.
I let out a frustrated sigh before angrily shoving my phone to the very bottom of my bag. I flick my hair to the side, tilting my chin to the sky and marching up to Mr.Arden's door. As I'm about to pound on his door I breathe in deeply, allowing my shoulders to fall along with my head. I settle for a soft knock and I wait.
" We're busy. Please go away. " I hear Mr.Arden say. I've never heard him sound like that. Whoever has been crying must be on his last nerve. Finally the crying stops and I hear quiet conversation and footsteps headed to the door. I take a step back, anticipating someone to walk out. The door slowly inches open revealing the culprit of the excessive sobbing. It's a girl, a very tall one at that. She looks Indian, or Middle Eastern, with deep brown eyes, long winged eyeliner and dyed blue hair elegantly draped over her shoulders. She's really beautiful.. She's looking down now, and she walks straight into me! We make eye contact a moment before she stutters clumsily and rushes into the hall. I pop into Arden's office with a weak smile and place the papers lightly on his desk.
" Thank you Alanis. I'm sorry if you heard anything or if my tone caught you off guard. Zoe is a very...peculiar girl. Have a good summer. " He says with a weak smile. He has so much pain in his eyes.. He couldn't get through to her, that must've killed him.
I smile back and give him the most genuine " Thank you " I can. He deserves it. I walk out and hear loud rustling in the hallway. I almost instantly know it's that Zoe girl. I step cautiously towards her locker. She suddenly goes on some spiel about me being Arden.
" What? " I say raising my eyebrow slightly. She jumps up and looks at me. I automatically get lost in her again. Now I'm noticing that she has a small nose stud, very small stretched ears and her nails painted a vibrant purple. She's wearing a black tank top, ripped and paint splattered blue skinny jeans and a red flannel tied around her waist. She's also wearing a fabric choker with a small charm of a moon on it. Her fashion sense is so good compared to mine. I'm just wearing a floral t shirt, loose fitting boyfriend jeans and a amethyst necklace. I feel so...girly. I brush my hair out of my eyes before spitting out a tragically awkward introduction. Her face seems to glow as she reaches out a hand.
" Zoe. "
