Credits to whoever wrote that beautiful poem which inspired me into writing this story. Aisha is my character, Dante belongs to my friend, Emma. By the way, i hope you will like this xo

Dante Ortiz was Aisha Lavine's best friend, he had always been there for her, ever since she was a silly teenager thinking she knew everything. He had always been there for her and she had always been there for him, even now, when he was going to be in the army.

"Isha..." He seemed very nervous for some reason - she recalled. "I have to tell you something." He took a deep breath as he was holding onto her hands. She remembered she was caressing his, trying to get him to calm down, being concerned and wondering what was wrong. Aisha loved Dante, so much, she thought she loved him like a best friend, but the pain she felt after finding out the news was too strong and too hard to take. "I'm going to leave for the army."

She laughed at first, that kind of short, nervous laugh. That kind you do when you don't want to believe something is real, "You're joking right?" She laughed again, but as she was looking into his eyes she could see it wasn't a joke at. "B-But... why?" She was feeling hurt, she was definitely feeling more pain that she should, she was feeling abandoned. He was her best friend, she needed him, didn't he know that?! But being in the army was something brave, something that should be admired and she needed to be supportive of him. She was his best friend too, it wasn't only one way around, she needed to support him too and be there for him no matter what, she shouldn't be selfish. Aisha cleared her throat. "I-I mean... uhm, i will miss you so much." She looked into his eyes as he said that, "Take care of yourself.../please/." She couldn't hide her tears any longer so she let them fall as she pulled him into a hug.

Dante had tears into his eyes too, as he hugged her back, but he wouldn't let them fall, he wouldn't come out as weak. "I will miss you too, baby Isha." He paused for a moment, holding her tighter into his arms, realizing that he won't be able to do that for a long time. "I will miss you so much, angel. I love you." He kissed the top of her head, then he kissed her forehead, staying like that for a few seconds.

Now it's been one year, a whole year without her best friend, her soul-mate, the only person that could understand her. It's been a whole year of missing him everyday and realizing how much he meant to her. More than she ever thought. She wrote to him every day, every single day, telling him everything she went through and how she felt without him, how much she missed him, everything. And he wrote back, occasionally because he was busy. Aisha understood that, or she tried to, well all she could do was cry herself to sleep and cling onto his photo, until he'd come... 6 more months. She had to tell him something though, something of a more importance, but she didn't know how. While he was gone, she realized her feelings for him changed, it wasn't like she no longer cared for him or she forgot him - nothing like that -, they just developed though. And even though she was scared of ruining their friendship, she couldn't keep it to herself, she /had/ to tell him.

"Come home, my soldier

come home, my love

drop your weapons,

shed your uniform,

leave the battle and the blood

come home, my warrior

come home, my love

i will wait at the door

guide you to me

bind your wounds

come home, my fighter

come home, my love

i cannot bear to lose you,

to the fire and the shots

when you could die here

with me."

That was her way of expressing her feelings and she hoped he understood. It was strange too, Aisha never wrote a poem before, but she figured the way she missed him inspired her into writing that. She sent the letter though, containing the poem, but never got a reply. She was worried, did something happened to him? Was he hurt? Or was he mad because of the poem? She kept writing him, asking what was wrong, but no answer came. Aisha started getting seriously depressed without even realizing, she started drinking to drawn her pain until one day, five months later, when she finally got a letter.

"I'm coming back next month, i cannot wait to see you princess.

I love you,

Dante"

There was nothing that could make her happier than that letter and it made her swear on her life she would get better, he wouldn't even know what happened. When the time comes and she'll greet him at the airport, she'd look healthy and happy, happy to see him. He would come back and everything would be back to normal, /her/ Dante would /come back/!

Aisha stood on her toes as she was trying to see over the heads of the people and hopefully notice Dante. He was coming home, today, and she was at the airport to welcome him. She had been crying the whole day, crying of happiness this time though, of happiness, excitement, love /and/ impatience. She simply couldn't wait to see him again, after a year and a half. When she finally noticed him, she started running to him, running through the crowd, pushing everyone out of her way. She didn't care, she wanted to get to him as fast as possible. One year and a half apart had been enough for her. As she reached him, Aisha jumped into his opened arms, wrapping her arms around his neck, holding him tightly, crying, and she soon realized he was crying too.

When she let go, she only did it to stroke his cheeks. "Dante.." She was crying, but it didn't matter, none of it mattered now that she had Dante by her side again. "I love you so much, i missed you... you're back! I...i'm so happy..." Her words didn't seem to make sense anymore and as he watched her speak he couldn't help himself not to chuckle. She was so adorable!

He didn't know what to say either, he was at a loss of words. All this time he lived with the thought that he might not be able to see her again, ever, to hold her, to tell her that he loves her.. "Aisha..." He whispered and pulled her into his arms again, kissing her head, her cheeks, mostly anything he could reach. He spun her around, before placing her back on the ground and cupping her face with his hands. Looking into her eyes, he made the promise that he would hold onto for the rest of his life. "Aisha, i /swear/ i'm never going to leave you again. I don't know how i was able to live without you all this time, but now that i got you back... I'm not going to ruin that." He kissed her nose and smiled lovingly. "I love you, it sounds cheesy, but i do." He chuckled, before adding. "I've missed you /so/ much." He was left breathless for a second as he looked into her eyes and saw her loving look and he did something he should have done a long time ago.

Dante Ortiz leaned in and kissed Aisha Lavine softly on her lips, wrapping his hands protectively around her waist as he pulled her closer. He wouldn't leave her again, he would stay and protect her for the rest of their lives /together/.
