"You're supposed to hold your hands up, with your index fingers crossed." Uuolf's stern tone confused me even more. While lifting a brow, I slowly tilted my head, "What?"
"Like this." Either, she was showing off how good she was with magic or Uuolf was actually trying to teach me some valuable stuff. She rested her elbows on the table, crossing her index fingers. "Follow me." I nodded slowly. Trying to comprehend what was happening. After I followed her first movement, she gave a new movement for me to follow. I copied. Before I knew it, the cup a few inches away from me began to wobble. A few seconds later, it toppled over with a light clink - water spilling from it. Uuolf made another movement making the water dry quickly. "It's not magic that you can use in battle, but it might come in handy sometime." She smiled, her ruby eyes scrunching lightly. "That's all for today."
"But it's still early, and you have a lot to teach me about.." My voice slowly began to trail off, as I lowered my head. Uuolf straightened her posture - dragging her elbows off the wooden table and sitting up straight. She sighed while brushing away silver strands of hair, "About being an elf." Uuolf's words pieced with mine as I nodded slowly. "Yeah.."
Her features darkened for a moment before she began to smile again, "There isn't much to being an elf. Just magic and hiding your ears." Uuolf said.
"Hiding?"
"Didn't your mother tell you the stories of elves?"
I shook my head slowly, "My mother died when she borne me."
Uuolf was quiet for a moment, she lowered her head, then looked back at me, "I'm sorry." Her apology was ironic in a way.
"I didn't really know her, but my father always told me I had her personality."
My words earned a smile from the elf, "It's nice to know that you carry your mother's personality,"
"What about you?"
"My family is complicated - too hard to explain."
"A complicated family is always interesting."
Uuolf firmly shook her head, only making my curiosity stronger. Her crimson gaze met mine, "Elves are close to each other - family close. The only thing I can tell you is when you met another elf, you greet them with my blood and proceed."
Elves are like family. All elves. "Which means.."
"Half-sisters." Uuolf shrugged, "Thankfully you have dark hair."
"Is there something wrong with my hair?"
"No, elves with blonde hair usually mean death. While dark means prosperity."
"Well that's scary." I continued softly, "If we meet a blonde elf w-"
"It means run." Uuolf cut my words short. Suddenly, she stood from her chair quickly - almost knocking it down. The bold act caused me to flinch,
"What's wrong?"
"Someone's here."
Before I could say anything else, she left the room.I somewhat, blindly followed her to the front door. Uuolf had calmly opened it, it's creaky hinges being cringe worthy. Behind the door stood two young men - both maybe close to being twenty. Both having the same face. "What do you want?" Uuolf blankly said. Her blunt tone made sympathy for the two rise inside me. In my eyes, the young men just simply stared at us, "This isn't your house." One said. Uuolf calmly shook her head, "It's not your place to be saying things like that. We could be the cousins of the man who lives here."
"You don't know the man who lives here."
"Who are you to say that?" My words came out blurted. Unintended, and random - but I still continued, "Who even are you two?" Both wore the same exact expression, blue eyes narrowing and smiles playing at their lips in unison. "The man who to lives here is our uncle - I've never seen you before so I recommend that you leave before I call for the guards." The other said. Despite their faces and expressions the young men had dissimilar voices. One youthful and cheeky while the other voice having a more mature tone. Uuolf didn't care with both of us knowing the fact that we were in a hitch, she just played along further and I wasn't sure if this was fun for her or if Uuolf was being serious and knew our situation. "It's nice to know father was hiding family away from us." Uuolf said. The one with the somewhat higher pitched voice shook his head, "We still don't trust you. No one talked about the albino cousin and the brunette one."
"We never heard about twins either." Uuolf was annoyed. I disregarded her tone and faced the two again.
"Surly you have a brunette cousin." My comment came out with a higher pitch - almost turning it into a question.
"We do. But no albino one." They both watched Uuolf. I acted fast, holding my hand out to greet them. A forced cheery smile stretched across my features. "Nora." They took my hand once they heard my name. I could hear Uuolf make a low unsatisfied grunt.
"Lionel." The deeper voiced one said.
"Rian." The other said."It's nice to meet you, Rian and Lionel." Uuolf continued curtly, "Now - could you please leave? Me and Nora were in the middle of something." I looked at her. Uuolf was taller than me - maybe 4-5 inches taller, but I still watched her closely, "Weren't we finished?"
"No." She replied blankly."I'm sure uncle would allow us in his house." Rian said while stepping up, Lionel following after him.
"Help yourselves." I welcomed them. If we were putting on the act of all of us being relatives, we had to at least be nice. Uuolf closed the door behind us, she locked it.Lionel was the first to face us. He stared at me - looking me over with stern blue eyes. "You don't dress as your father does."
"Because he's a man?"
"Lionel no." Rian's tone had a scent of humor. He made his way over to us - cutting into our conversation. "Lionel doesn't know how to greet new cousins."
"I think I do?"
"Ah, no you don't."Uuolf watched me. She mouthed quick words of Why did you let them in? I shrugged then proceeded to watch the twins. When I opened my mouth to speak - Uuolf butted in, "Just making sure; are you two twins, or?"
"Twins. Although ["I'm older." Lionel said] Lionel's like two seconds older." Rian answered. I wasn't sure if he heard Lionel's comment.
