Epilogue - Part 1

10 years later

There she was, back in the city she didn't expect to come back to, Miami. The last time she stepped foot on this ground was 10 years ago, after her break up with Camila, her first love. She didn't know how she was or if she still lived there. Anyway that's not why she was there, she was transferred to Miami's hospital a few months ago because they needed the best and not to brag or anything but she was considered the best even though she was only on her second year of residency under internal medicine. Which really wasn't a long time.

The hospital had a special mystery case that no one seemed to be able to figure out at the time, that's why Lauren was called and diagnosed the man with Bullous Pemphigoid, a rare autoimmune skin disease. Anyway, the head of the department of diagnostics offered the young doctor a job with a salary that you just couldn't say no, not that she cared about the money because she's overfilled with it. It was because of the more shocking cases, that gave her challenges, which she enjoyed. Because of all these factors, she ended up staying and to her surprise, Ms. Dinah Jane worked there as a registered nurse for a few years now. She became her guide through the hospital until She knew her way around and then became her personal nurse.

Lauren found out she was now married to Normani who owned her own dance academy in downtown. They had a 6 year old daughter name Lyla. She got the chance to meet her and to Lauren she was the most adorable little girl She's ever seen. She had Dinah's pretty brown eyes, light skin and grew to get Normani's attitude/sass. The girl could dance like nobody's business and carried some vocals that Dinah claimed she inherited from her. She mostly had the Polynesian's features because she had carried her and they had gotten a sperm donor who had dominate curly brown hair, it didn't matter to Mani though, she loved her daughter endlessly.

At the hospital, Dinah and Lauren worked really well together and have kinda caused some problems but nothing major...or probably but only once...or twice. They both also knew Dinah was or still is Camila's best friend but they had a silent agreement to never bring her up. The green eyed woman dated a few times but it never became something serious or stable. She stopped trying and till this day she was still single. Plus with her job, she had no other choice but to become anti-social, she didn't have time to go out and have dates all the time.

"Hey Laur, MRI scans are ready for Mr. Bentley" Dinah says as she hands Lauren a brown pocketed folder

"Thanks Dj, let's take a look" She raised up the scans to the light

"What do you see?"

"Hmm, you see that mass right there on his thyroid?" Dinah nods her head, "That's what's forming the lump on that area, biopsy it and send it to the lab to check if it's cancerous, STAT. Page me when you get the results"

"Got it"

She watches the 29 year old nurse walk away and then she returns to the nurses station to fill out paper work on her patients in a grey metallic binder. As she was going through the binder, she found a very familiar last name and immediately went to its tab. As she read through the patients file, she learned that they had been admitted three days ago, because of loss of appetite, fatigue, and weakness. Her doctor is treating her with anti-depression pills and is waiting for improvement.
