 Chapter 2

Kenzie's eyes met that of her friends in horror. Well this certainly puts the icing on the cake of that word they call crazy. This was not in the visions. This was not in the cards. A wife.

She gave herself a mental shake and started walking towards the door.

“You all seem to have some issues you need to clear up. My friends and I will just find another place to get tatted. No biggie. Really.” She couldn't even bring herself to look at Law. No way.

“Fuck, wait.” That was Law.

“You see Cassie, this is why our business is failing. AND you have not been my wife in twelve fucking years. Get over yourself.”

“We still live together as so Law.”

What sounded like a frustrated growl eminated down the hall and reached that of Kenzie. She slowed her step and stopped at the front entryway. The girls all lined up behind her.

“Look, come back. She does this. I am sorry and I am so pissed, and embarrassed. Please. I would like to hear what you want... tatted.” He seemed to trip over his words and Kenzie could understand. Maybe he was feeling it as well?

She looked to the girls, half shrugged and the other rolled her brown eyes.

“Whatever. Don't make me knock a bitch out. Just saying.”

Kenzie bit the inside of her cheek to keep from grinning. She looked at Law. Again, her breath froze in her throat.

His eyes seemed to penetrating her soul.  She swallowed convulsively and broke out in goose bumps.

"Dude, seriously.  Monster ex-wife will cut out her liver.  Leave it alone would ya?"  Leave it to Tanya to break a moment.

“Alright then, let's get this party started. My girl Kenzie here is going to be first under the the scope. Go ahead Kenz, tell him what you want. Better yet, show him.”

It was a test. Regan was going to test him.

Kenzie squirmed a bit before doing a soul-deep sigh.

“Fine.”

She began digging around in her purse, hell it was a bag really. A big black leather bag that held everything she could even possibly want at any given time. Her friends snickered.

“Good luck.” Teena laughed throatily.

It was a joke. They always busted her about the kind of purse she carried.

Kenzie felt her face grow warm as she finally snatched onto the wrinkled up paper in the bottom. It was a draft of a beautiful vision. A Triquetra. Her own version thereof. A Celtic Heart looped inside a heart.

Triple Goddess to some. Mind, body, and spirit. It was a hand drawn image of a vision she had and she instinctively knew it meant more than she could wrap her head around at the moment.

She handed the wrinkled paper over to Law, her hand visibly shaking.  He gently took the paper while trying to catch her eye.

She could not look at him while that woman was still in the room.

She watched out of the corner of her eye as he carefully unfolded the paper.

She held her breath stiffly.

It seemed like hours that he stood there studying it.

The girls all began to pace, tap, and sigh loudly.

"Dude, really!  For fucks sake."

Tanya was stepping forward as he looked up. His eyes caught Kenzie's in a frozen stare.

There was something in those eyes.  Something haunting.

She began to shake on the inside.  What was wrong?

"The Triquetra?  Did you draw this?" It was a softly spoken question that had the amazon of an ex coming up and snatching the picture.

"Fucking easy lady."  Peyton growled as she stepped forward, slightly angling herself between Kenzie and the firing range.

Kenzie blew out a breath.  Seriously, her friends were awesome but did they all think she was helpless?

"No, not helpless per sey but definitely worth protecting."

"What?"  Law asked that as he glanced from Peyton to Kenzie.

"Nothing."  They said in unison.

The ex was glaring at them all.  Really.  Like she could kill them, Law included.

"I'm going home Law.  We can discuss this whenever you get there."  She shoved the paper back at him and took off out the door.

Everyone exhaled loudly when they heard the front door slam on the shop.

Kenzie was nervous.  He was still staring at her.

"What?  Do I have something on my face?"  She took her hand to her face.

"I was just waiting for the answer."

"Ummm, what was the question again?"

He stepped closer.  Almost touching.  Their personal space was definitely touching and Kenzie reacted by reaching in her pocket to grip her crystals.  Personal space was an issue in public.  Emotions were erratic and overbearing.

"You don't need protection from me."  She grimaced then froze.  How did he know?
