Why Me?

First Day

Beep! Beep!
Lucy looks at her clock groaning. 6:00am already? She really didn't want to be up right now, but the scent of buttered toast and crispy bacon was calling her to wake up. She dressed warmly in her purple and grey sweater dress, tied her bright, blonde hair in a tight bun. Slipping on little mascara and lip gloss, she opened her door being greeted by Prince, her big puff ball of a cat yawning. Lucy walked down the stairs to the kitchen and slid into the seat next to her father.
"Good Morning dad," Lucy smiled.
Her dad looked up from the newspaper in hand and nodded.
"Good Morning darling."
Lucy chewed happily on the crispy bacon while downing a glass of apple juice.
"It's going to be a big day. Are you ready for it?" Her dad said smiling.
Lucy widened her eyes. CRAP! First day of Woodward High. She felt her hands shake in anxiety as she got up and pushed her chair in, putting her plate in the sink.
"Are you okay Lucy?" Her dad said concerned.
Biting her lip she replied, "Of course daddy! Just a little first day jitters."
Her dad laughed warmly welcoming Lucy into his arms.
"It will be okay darling. Stay focus. You got your schedule with you?"
Lucy ran to her backpack by the little bench beside the door. Rumbling through her folders pulling out a half sheet of white paper with her schedule of the new year on it.
"I got it!" Lucy hollered to her dad.
Lucy glances up at the clock. 6:45am. CRAP! She didn't want to be late on her first day. Running out the door into the humid aftermath of the summer, Lucy ran down the street where she turned the corner to the bus stop as it was coming into the neighborhood. She gulped.
Well here goes nothing.
