"Why is it that sometimes one's whole life gets over within a moment but at times a moment lasts an
entire lifetime? Why is that once you meet your chosen person, everything feels amazing around you, you feel like you are in a trance and are getting swallowed by a typhoon of emotions.
This is what she thought when she thought about him. He was just a mere stranger a few moments ago but the moment their eyes met, it's as if she was hit by some powerful spell. She knew that she had already fallen for him, and she knew that he was aware too......
All she had to..........."I stopped reading and looked up from the romance novel to see a child running around, his mother was fussing over him. I bookmarked the novel and put it inside my bag, I still don't know why romance novel felt so shallow at times. The way they described falling in love is too surreal. I looked at the kid who was deliberately pissing his mother off. Other passengers were either too exhausted or were too passive towards the situation. It was around 8 in the evening I am tired too, working does take its toll on one and if someone is new then it's too tiresome. I looked at his mother and smiled, she smiled at me too. We exchanged small talks and I gave her kid some chocolate I had with me, that seemed to calm him. After some minutes she stood up, her station came and after saying a brief goodbye she left with her kid. I stood up, dusting my black skirt. I looked at my white not so crisp shirt, I sighed as I thought about the laundry. I went towards the gate; my legs were kind of sore due to the heels that I wore especially for today. Today was my first day at work as an independent adult.
"Ah as I thought it's tough" I sighed again, looking at my watch. When the train stopped. I walked out and went towards the exit; just then my eyes fell on a guy.
He was just standing there among all other passengers like another passenger but he looked like he didn't belong among them, he looked very different yet at the same time I felt like I knew him from somewhere.
Everything about him screamed danger starting from his black coloured overcoat to his long unruly hair, hair as dark as a night without the moon and a single speck of light, from the way he stood to the way he moved, from his slightly chapped lips to his pale skin to his dark smouldering eyes. His eyes were the scariest part of him. His fathomless dark pools promised something dark and violent. A shudder ran through me as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, suddenly the air felt stale, damp and heavy. Something inside me screamed of danger, I felt eyes on me. I felt like I shouldn't look up, I was breathing shallow and hard, I felt my sweat dripping from my forehead. I don't know why I was breathing like that, I looked towards him albeit of my internal conflict and our eyes met and I felt like I was drowning, the air left my lungs and I felt water entering my lungs. How? How can this happen? I wasn't in water. A gasp left my mouth and for a whole minute, all I saw was water, fathomless pool all around me. I started gasping and struggling to breathe. I heard someone scream for help in the background and then everything went black. All I saw before I drowned was someone's worried face and a pair of black eyes."........." "..........."
I felt my consciousness coming back, my head felt heavy and my throat felt dry like someone stuffed dry cotton balls in my throat. I heard someone calling; it was some foreign name that my mind was unable to process. I felt like they were calling me, I wanted to reach out to them. There was a sense of pain in their voice that made my heart clench. I reached out my hand towards him.
I woke up to a room filled with a smell of antiseptics; I looked up towards the ceiling and saw my outstretched arm, a single tear rolled down my cheeks. I felt like I was in some kind of trance-like state like I was in a phantasmagoria.
I looked around and saw another bed draped with white sheets. The room was plain with two beds, a desk and a chair at one corner and a cabinet full of meds in another corner.Suddenly an old lady came inside holding one glass of water.
"Oh dear, you are awake?" she said while handing me the glass of water.
I started sipping the cold water, it was soothing to my dry throat and until now I wasn't even aware that I was too thirsty.
I drank the whole glass too quickly."What happened?" I asked while handling her glass back.
She looked at me "it seems like you lost consciousness" she then took my temperature and smiled, "Nothing to worry about, maybe it's due to nervousness or anxiety".She smiled while holding my shoulder, "it happens sometimes, go home and get some rest you will feel better".
I smiled at her back, a hollow smile, a façade, "Thank you". I replied.I got up, my head was still heavy but now it was bearable. I sat there until the dizziness passed away. When I was all okay I thanked her again and took off.
"The no. you are calling is currently switched off kindly call later or leave a message after the beep" I heard the same voice message again and again.
In a fit of anger I shut my cell phone. Today had been frustrating, first that guy now my friend. He was supposed to pick me up but he was nowhere to be seen at the station. It was around 10 o'clock and the station was nearly deserted."I am going to kill him "I mumbled under my breath as I walked towards the exit.
Luckily I got a taxi and reached home safely.I know that when you ask someone to search for a room it's not easy and a cheap room in one metropolitan city is impossible but I had never imagined it to be like this.
I signed again looking at my stupid rundown apartment, judging from the light from the room that's supposed to be mine it seems he is busy unpacking stuff. Suddenly it felt like someone whispered my name in my ear; I got startled and turned back. But there was no one, just a deserted road."Hey," I heard someone and turned back towards the apartment.
"Are you the new tenant?" he asked while smiling.
"I suppose, you are the owner?" I asked while walking towards him.
"No no, my grandmother is the owner; I just take care instead of her." He said "btw I am Jonathan alester but all my friends call me jester." he said while reaching out his hand.
"Ah, I am Saya, your new tenant. Please take care of me" I said while shaking his hand.
"Jester?" I mumbled.
"Ah well it kind of suits my personality and I can make you laugh anytime with my jokes," he said while blushing a scarlet color. When I looked at him I saw that he was blushing all the way to his ears.
He was cute that I can say."Oiiiiiiiiii" I heard a loud obnoxious voice and I knew who it was. "Come to your room I can't possibly unpack everything, move your lazy arse, and yes that lazy arse" he was screaming now.
Jonathan looked at me and then towards my friend and then again towards me, I blushed at the scene and it was high time to intervene.
"He is my friend and the one helping me unpack." I said while walking towards the stairs, "Nice to meet you Jonathan and good night" I bowed and walked towards my room.
It was one weird day and thought it was over, what are the odds that it will happen again. Unknown to me those fathomless eyes were following me everywhere, following my every move.
