We were all on the edge of our seats. Alia, James, and I were sitting on the front patio waiting for the mail. Today was the day the acceptance letters for The Academy Of Magic would arrive. We had all submitted our letters and now we were waiting for a response. The Academy Of Magic (more commonly known as AOF) was one of the toughest schools of magic to get into. If I, Lily Ortiz failed to make it, I would be crushed. "Cheer up, Lily, if anyone can make it into this school, it's you!" Exclaimed James. "Yeah, I'm sure if one of us made it, it's you." Said Alia. "Thanks guys." I said. I appreciated the support, but out of all of us, Alia had the most raw magical talent. I fidgeted in my chair. Our magic was powerful, but in order to get into AOM, you had to be a top level Sorcerer, which I guess are...or are we? "We are, Lily. Don't worry!" Said Alia, she had the ability to read and control minds. I hated when she read my mind, but she was trying to make me feel better. James could travel through time and space, and I had telekinesis, or the ability to move things with my mind. As we progressed with our studies we would learn more about our powers and hopefully learn new talents.

Soon after, a whirling noise came towards us, the mail truck! James was the first to jump out of his seat. I was about to spring up when my chair flew out from behind me, obviously I fell with a wham on the dry itchy grass. I would have to work on controlling my powers. Alia, being the sweet person she is, helped me up. "Are you okay?" Alia asked. " Yeah, I just got a few scratches." I brushed off my cut ankle and looked around for any sign of Alia. She was already making the mad dash for the mailbox.

I ran after her. Immediately the pain of my ankle faded as I followed Alia. We arrived at the mailbox just after the mail man drove away. James, being the good person he is, waited for us to gather around the mailbox all together. "Should I open it?" James asked. In my head I wanted to open it, but I couldn't say that out loud. " Sure, go ahead!" I said. Slowly he started to open the stone mailbox, the creaking of the rusted door gave me goosebumps. "Hurry up, we're not getting any younger!" Alia exclaimed. "Sorry!" Said James, as he quickly opened the mailbox. Right after, 3 beautiful hand written letters, rapped in red cloth came flying out of the mailbox and landed at our feet. Each of us had our own letter. I carefully unwrapped the cloth envelope and folded open the wrinkled letter. Shakily I started to read the fine cursive writing on the paper.
