“Marce, this food is great!” AJ exclaimed

“I told you,” I smiled at him.

“We don’t have this shit back home,” he mumbled between chomps.

“Where are you from exactly?” Jenna asked

AJ swallowed, “Uhhhh...New York City.”

“You mean to tell me,” Jenna started, “You don’t have this food in the Big Apple?”

“I mean they do,” he looked at her, “But I can’t afford it.”

“Well when you’re friends with Marcel,” Jenna exclaimed, “You can afford anything.”

“Not true,” I pointed out to her.

“Marce, you’re your parents’ only child. If you wanted a fucking pony they would get you a fucking pony,” Jenna told me.

“But, I don’t want a pony. You get everything you want,” I answered.

“Oh yes cause Harvey is such an authoritative person let me tell you,” she boasted.

“Why don’t you like your dad, Jenna?” AJ asked

“Because he cares more about money than his own flesh and blood,” Jenna started, “To him I’m just another way for him to get more money. He uses me to get things for his company. He tried to make me date a celebrity who was such an asshole. It was crazy.”

“I’m sorry,” AJ whispered.

“AJ, she doesn’t care. She has hated her dad since she could speak,” I answered.

“No I hated Harvey. I don’t have a dad,” Jenna spat.

Just then Jenna’s phone started to ring. The sweet sounds of One Direction started to fill up my ears. She was in love with those five boys. She tried dragging me to one of their concerts but I never went. I mean they are just like every other boyband. They are going to break up sometime real soon.

“Speaking of the devil himself,” she spat.

“Harvey?” I asked

“Harvey the best dad in the whole entire world!” she shouted sarcastically.

Jenna got up from her seat and made her way over to the bathroom to answer her phone call. AJ continued to eat from his plate full of food afraid that if he left a single drop of food on the plate he would get shunned from this friendship. I continued to dig and pick at my food. I shouldn’t have order this.

AJ looked up from his food, “Why is Jenna like that?”

“Why is she like what?” I asked

“Why is she so against liking her dad? I mean I could never hate my dad. He raised me after my mom dropped me off at his doorstep,” AJ answered.

“I guess it’s because he’s never really around so she never thought he was an appropriate guy to look up to. I mean she kind of likes him but he never really was there to watch her grow up. Her mom basically raised her. And we have been friends ever since we were babies. My mom and her dad work together. Our moms connected at a company picnic when we were smaller,” I answered.

“She really cares about you Marce,” AJ answered.

“Yeah, supposedly I’m the only guy she trusts,” I answered.

“You sure are the only guy I trust,” I heard Jenna speak as she sat down.

“Sorry,” I answered.
