Give Me Love

The sun slowly set behind the Pacific Ocean. The pink and orange sky shined bright with colors. Small waves crashed upon the quiet shore while the few seagulls that were left caught the last of their dinner.  Seaweed traced the edge of where the waves have crashed. Beach chairs from different companies were left crooked and uneven by the amount of people spending their Sunday at the beach. Children’s toys lingered everywhere waiting for the beach clean up crew to come pick them up off the beach. The pier light shined even from a distance. Everyone left the beach and went straight to the pier for the carnival.  Children dragged their tired parents to whatever game they desired. No matter how tired the parents may seem, they always enjoyed seeing their child having so much fun. Then finally as the night closed in, the children would be fast asleep in the car insanely tired from today’s events. While the people in Half Moon Bay let their nightly adventures rest, a young girl around the age of eighteen carried a backpack and a guitar case with her walking up the deserted highway road.

Her brown hair was pulled up in the messiest bun anyone’s might’ve ever seen, but it somehow looked good on her. Sleep crusted her eyes and the bags under them showed how tired she was. Her flight from Atlanta, Georgia was delayed a good four hours because of plane malfunctions. When she finally arrived at the San-Francisco International airport it turns out that the plane lost her luggage. She huffed her bag up on her shoulder walking out the airport quite mad. She hauled down a taxi and it took her to Half Moon Bay. Halfway there she realized that she didn’t have the money to even make it any further. As soon as she told the driver he slammed on his brakes making her ram into the back of the seat. He slammed his door open hurrying to open her door and pulled her out by her upper arm.

“This is my living. I got to make some money somehow too kid.” He shoved the guitar case into her hands and hoped back into the filthy yellow taxi that had to many dents. The tires squeal as the car raced down the road in a hurry to get away from the girl. She stood there in shock not knowing what quite to do. Her mother died six years ago from a drunk driver and her stepfather said he would only put up with her until she was eighteen. So the night of June 14th exactly at twelve in the morning, she was shoved out of her bed and a check of five thousand along with the forty grand from her mother’s Will was thrown at her. He told her she had three hours to pack anything she needed then she would have to get out. Her little sister, Megan, came wobbling in from the yelling. She held tears in her eyes as she held onto her sister’s legs begging her not to leave. She held onto Megan until the little girl fell asleep. She tucked her back into bed and went to pack her things. She had two suitcases full of things ready to go. A month later she booked a flight to California to make a new start. One without boy troubles, family drama, and work troubles. She new she could never out run her troubles, but she was hoping for a little time off from them.

Her feet carried her the other ten miles to Half Moon Bay, but she wished a car would come by and give her a lift to the address that was hidden within the Will. Her mother, Samantha, loved adventure but when she meant Dave, and ended up having Megan with him; she didn’t do much exploring after that. Samantha begged her daughter to explore whenever she could. She wanted her to travel the world and find unique love. When cancer struck Samantha, she asked of her daughter to fulfill her wish. Her daughter agreed quickly letting the tears run down her face. Her mother died a few days later leaving her stepfather to take care of her and her younger half-sister. Dave wasn’t to impressed about having to take care of a daughter that wasn’t even his, but he promised his now dead wife that he would until she could take care of herself. Allison sighed softly at all her memories she had back in Georgia. Her bag was getting heavy on her shoulders put she ignored the pain and kept walking. All the light from the sun was fully gone now, Allison thought about how Megan would be trying to sleep back home but wouldn’t unless Dave tucked her in properly and sang her a song. Dave couldn’t sing to save his life so Megan wouldn’t be going to sleep easily. The three-hour time difference was taking a toll on Allison’s body. She eyes were getting heavy but she had another eight miles to walk. A loud honk knocked her out of her reverie state. She whipped out to be blinded by the LED headlights of a sports car. The Mustangs engine revived slightly making her jump. The passenger’s window rolled down and soft music rolled out into the night’s sky.
