Her eyes glistened with excitement, like the summer sun reflecting off the blue lake. Sparkling with new light every time something new came into her world. Jumping for joy when I hopped out from the '02 heavy duty, blue flatbed truck that her brother use to drive. Running like a child on the playground she came towards me full force and jumped into my arms. Just like the romantic movies where the couple haven't seen each other in a long time and spin around when they are holding each other, yeah that's what we were doing. Not complaining about the wonderful blonde sister of mine in my arms, but she keeps bouncing around and starts pulling me towards the old rustic red barn.
Against the back where the paint is slowly starting to come off the redwood wall there is a big table set up with party like decorations. There were around four camp chairs and ten random chairs that had been brought in from around the ranch. Looking around the barn I noticed some of the hay out of place, I started to stalk towards the random bales that had been thrown in all sorts of directions.
Getting closer to one of the bales something moved from behind it. Coming right at me and pouncing on top of me, falling down with a thump and a squeak going from the object in my arms. During the fall I'd close my eyes, as if closing them would help me to better prepare myself for the rough ground awaiting me. Slowly and carefully I started to open one eye then the other, and there sitting on my lap was my adorable little sister with her slightly curled crimson hair all a mess.
Laughter rang throughout the barn as if it was echoing continuously, items were being moved from their original places and out came the people I call family. A feeling of electricity seemed to buzz through my body when I saw older brother, my body started moving towards him all on it's own, speeding up with every second and with each step I got closer. As I got closer I sped up and tackled Xavier to the ground.
"What was that for sis," Xavier breathed out with the little air that hadn't been shoved out from the impact.
"You've been gone too long," I croak out, just on the verge of tears.
Wrapping my arms tightly around him and enjoy the warmth of having my brother back home from the marines. This is the best birthday present that I could ever wish for and get! I love my brother so much I never want to lose him. I'll be super sad when he has to take off again to go serve overseas. But until that day I'm going to spend as much time with my brother as I possibly can, and the first thing I wanna do with him is to hike up into the mountains by our house.
Up on the highest snow packed peak, even during the summer months, is where he and I just let our cares rome free. Not a care in the world, where we catch up, and where we are at peace with one another. Sitting on the top of the mountain we are at the top of the world, looking around at the other blue tinted mountains, with the evergreen trees trying to climb up just a little higher on the sides. Everything makes sense, not to mention it smells so clean at the top and I wish I could stay up there forever with Xavier.
