I slipped into my heavy shoes, tied them tight and then put some tape around them. It was less than 2 months until NANS and I was super excited! I'd been to a few feis' now were I danced in open and let's just say, hard work pays off! Obviously I haven't won any, nor come in the top five, but my most recent feis, I placed 8th out 26 girls which I was super happy about!
I stood up and began loosening my Ankles before going into some hard shoe drills and then practising turn out in some parts of my step. Clodagh came in and sat on the sofa in the room. She was on her phone, waiting for me to finish and clearly wasn't paying attention to me.
"You know, you have really good rhythm and cross on that step" she spoke up.
I turned my neck too look at her,
"Have you been payed to say this or has mum or someone told you too say this to get me out of here?"
"No. I'm telling the truth, do it again" I went back into the treble sequence followed by some toe stands and then a front click.
Clodagh didn't say anything but simply pulled on her heavys and stood up next to me. She grabbed her phone and went onto Spotify and put the song 'better when I'm dancing' on by Meghan Trainor.
"Let's makeup a treble reel" she said. We began putting together simple steps and then it started to come together. We filmed it and then she put it on her Instagram. I got a notification and when I clicked on the video I saw it already had 4 likes in 20 seconds. I commented two love hearts and then walked out the practise room so she could use it. I walked into the kitchen and my mum was dossing around.
"Hey Erin I need to talk to you" my stomach sunk because I knew she was going to tell me that I wasn't allowed to dance at NANS.
"I made an appointment at Celtic Star and they said they want to see you today so grab your shoes because we're leaving"
My tummy did a million flips, was this even real! I was getting my own solo dress from Celtic star! Clodagh just got a new dress to for the NANS and its red with a white pattern on the skirt and Red criss cross going through it. Mum also wants me to have red and white which are my favourite colours on a dress but she wants me to have input too. I really want a plainish dress with a big embroidery pattern in the middle but with lots of crystals.(Their dresses and also how I imagine them looking, Erin on the left, Clodagh on the right)
We finished our meeting and then headed into town where my mum got me some new clothes and then we headed home. I was collecting my dress in two weeks and I get to miss the afternoon off school for it! I ate my dinner and then headed upstairs to revise for maths as I really wanted good grades.
Today was the day I was collecting my dress. I was already walking to school and then I was leaving at 12 for a 'dentist appointment' but really it was to pick up my dress! My mum came and i hopped into the car. She brought my laptop with her so I logged on and did my homework on the way as we had an hour drive there. I finished my English and physics homework and then spoke to my mum about dance.
We arrived and I posted a picture on my snapchat story of the logo on the building. We waited in the reception before being ushered into one of the small rooms. They talked us through how to keep it in good conditions and then my mum made the final payment and then we headed through to the room where my dress was. I walked in and gasped at the beautiful dress on the mannequin.
It was red with darker red crystals in a criss cross pattern and then white embroidery around the collar, the middle and then the skirt. I quickly got undressed and then slipped into it and it fitted perfectly. I did my lead round in my reel and then my mum took some photos of it and then I took it off and put it into the dress bag we brought. I said Thankyou and then we began driving home. When we got in I posted a picture of it on Instagram and so did Celtic star, I felt famous!
