Blood is Thicker Than Water

I was looking at a body. My body. How? How is this possible? Am I dead!?

There were people packing the body onto a stretcher, I just stared. Stared. Stared at my life being thrown away. For what? To save someone I didn't even know. To save a soul. But I threw mine away. Right down the drain.

I looked over to see policemen putting my dad in one of the cars. Was it him? What would he have done wrong? Then I realized. He was driving the car. My father. He could've killed me.

I was dead. No, no, no, I can't be dead. I'm not dead. This is all a dream. A very very very bad dream, I'll wake up shortly.

"Just open your eyes, it's just a dream... Just a dream..." I said to myself. Yet, no one looked at me, they couldn't hear me after all, but I didn't know...

I tried everything I could think of to wake myself up. I pinched my arm, I bit my tongue, I sang a tune, I even went to a person and commanded them to yell at me. They didn't yell at me though, they couldn't hear me.

That's when I accepted it. I was dead. No one could help me, that body I saw, it was really mine. I was dead, nothing could be done to help that. I looked over slowly, and saw the girl that I had jumped in front of. She was crying. Why was she crying? She didn't know me, I didn't know her...

Her friend comforted her, "It'll be alright, at least you're alive..!"

She shook her head, "No no it's not... If I had just been paying attention to the road, at where I was walking...  He wouldn't have died. I didn't even know him... He still jumped out and pushed me out of the way..."

"Haley, believe me. Everything will be alright. This will be forgotten within a few months or so..."

Haley shook her head quickly, "I already told you! It will not be alright! And I won't forget it, not as long as I'm still alive... I'm happy for your encouragement Al, but it won't ever ever ever, be ok..."

I couldn't help but stare at the two, I know that friends fight, especially girls, but this isn't anywhere near what I've experienced before...

When I was watching them argue, I was surrounded in a sudden bright light.
