Detention

Some people say that detention is the worst thing ever in existence. "You'd rather live in a burning hell rather than go to detention for an hour.", "I've heard that the teacher who hosts it is the devil himself.". Ha, real trustworthy rumors. Detention really ain't that bad, you just have to be on the teachers good side and act as if you didn't do anything wrong. How do I know this? I figured out a trick on how to survive while I was there. Longest hour of my life.

Airn somehow fell asleep within the first 5 minutes, so I was to survive by myself with this, 'demon from hell' teacher. He was t really that bad, as long as you're quiet and do the work he assigns to you. The work was madness.  This is hardcore stuff! One question was:

Name all of the highest killing diseases' in the Uganda. What are their effects?

Seriously, how was I supposed to know the answer to that!? I'm not a doctor! The work was too difficult for me to figure out, so I answered all that I really could do, and just stared at the clock the rest of the hour. The teacher in charge was too busy reading, 'Romeo and Juliet'. He kept on tearing up, and muttered, "That's so sad...". I was trying really hard not to laugh, I took that he was the type of man to get emotional over love.

The front of my house was kinda old fashioned, for I did live on Victorian Dr,. I snuck in through the back, I really didn't want to explain to my parents where I was for the past hour. They would've kill me, bring me back to life to ground me, then kill me again and dance all over my grave!

I went up to my room for the rest of the night, catching up on some schoolwork I never did finish. But I couldn't. My thoughts took over. What if they do find out I got detention..? I'm a dead man for sure! I jumped at the sound of the door opening, in which it creaked really loud. It was my little sister, Anna, and she walked in. "Hey Ant," she called me Ant for short, even though my real name is Anthony, "do you know when daddy's coming home?". She was about 8, but she loved our dad and practically worshiped him.

I shook my head in response, and picked my pencil back up acting as if I've been working the whole time.

"Oh.." She said disappointed, and left. Of course I felt bad  for her, but I didn't really care at the moment. Our father had gone on a business trip about a month ago, and was supposed to be home yesterday. However, he still has not made an appearance back at home.

I was spaced out for maybe about five or ten minutes until I  was interrupted by the phone ringing. I snapped out of it and got up to answer the phone. "Hello..?", I said as I glanced at the clock. Eight thirty five. Someone was calling this late..?

Silence on the other end.

"Hello?", I said a bit quicker and louder, "Who is it?" There was still silence, an eerie silence.

"Listen here you, this isn't funny to call people at-"

"Meet at the end of Victorian Drive." A raspy deep voice interrupted him.

"Wha-" click.

The caller had hung up on him. I listened to the ringing of the cut line. "Meet at the end of Victorian Drive...?" I repeated to myself. I looked at the clock. Nine o'five. Why would anyone want to meet at nine on a school night? In the dark? At the end of a street? I kept asking myself. Why?
