JuAh carefully opened the door, and peered inside. There sat her grandma on the hospital bed. She turned her head towards JuAh as she stepped inside the room.
"JuAh dear, did you really come all the way from America?" her grandmother asked, as JuAh sat down on a chair next to her bed. JuAh nodded softly. Her mother and father sat on a small couch in the corner, while SongYee stood behind JuAh's chair.
"Annyeong Halmeoni Chung," SongYee said, and smiled at her. Halmeoni Chung looked at SongYee and she looked slightly shocked.
"Wow, SongYee, I haven't seen you in a long time. Are you doing good?" Halmeoni asked.
"Yes, I have been doing good," SongYee answered, "by the way these are for you."
SongYee held out the bouquet.
"Wow, they are amazing!" Halmeoni said. JuAh's mother found a vase, and placed the bouquet on the table next to her bed.
"Halmeoni, we got you a present as well," JuAh said, and carefully handed the box to her grandma. She opened the box and found a leather bound book. She opened the cover, and there in big letters stood the words Photo Album - Best moments.
"Did you guys make this for me?" Halmeoni asked, getting tears in her eyes. JuAh nodded her head, and gave her grandma a small hug. JuAh started talking to her grandma about life in America and how she always wanted to come to South Korea. JuAh could see the proud shimmer in her grandmother's eyes, and happiness washed over her.
Halfway through the day, the group decided to head home.
"We'll come back and visit you soon Halmeoni," JuAh's mother said, and hugged her own mother tight. Everyone else said goodbye, and they then set off.
"SongYee? Do you think Aunt Mina would mind if JuAh stayed for dinner, we have so much to unpack back home?" JuAh's father asked, as they stopped outside her aunt's house.
"Do you even have to ask?" SongYee said, and they all laughed.
"I'll see you both later then," JuAh said, and waved goodbye to her parents as they drove away. SongYee went to the door, and rang the doorbell.
"I forgot the key," she muttered, as JuAh looked at her. JuAh chuckled.
"Typical SongYee," JuAh stated. Just then the door opened, and Aunt Mina smiled at them.
"I'm guessing you're staying over for dinner," Aunt Mina said. The two girls laughed, and entered the house.
"Chen! SongYee and JuAh are back! I just thought I'd let you know in case you want to say hi! And don't forget clothes this time!" Aunt Mina called up the stairs. We heard something heavy drop to the floor.
"Umma! Don't yell that around the house when we have guests!" Chen's voice shouted back.
"Oh yeah, two of Chen's friends from school are here," Aunt Mina said as she disappeared into the kitchen. SongYee and I smiled to each other. We immediately bounced up the stairs. SongYee stopped in front of a door and knocked.
"Who is it?" Chen's voice called from the other side.
"It's your favourite cousin, and your favourite gaming partner," SongYee called back. There was shuffling heard, and then the door opened. JuAh and SongYee smiled brightly at Chen.
"What's up?" he asked them, leaning on the doorframe.
"Would you mind if we came in, and maybe hung out with you a little?" SongYee asked. Chen hesitated. SongYee looked to JuAh who backed away from her.
"Do it now," SongYee commanded, but JuAh shook her head.
"Come on, please, for me?" SongYee asked pouting. JuAh huffed, and stood in front of Chen. She looked up at him with big round eyes, and a pout.
