"Fate is coming, that I know. Time is running, got to go."

When I first encountered the man who changed my life, I was eighteen years of age. A young, naive, girl with a spirit that could get me to the tops of mountains. If I am honest, I do not recall where we met, or how, but I remember the feeling. I remember the first time I felt the tickle in the back of my throat as the welcoming words escaped his mouth. What a sweet man. was definitely my first thought. His graceful ways had me captivated within five minutes.  How crazy is that?  A man of such few words had me wrapped around his finger in an instant. Imagine the power he had over me? It's insane he didn't act on it.

He and I did not become friends for a while, and I am quite happy I held back. He had a large cult of friends, making him a very popular man to socialize with. A crowd of beautiful women seemed to always be at his side, clinging on to his every word. Anyone watching may have thought that he was a "manwhore" of sorts. I, had taken other observations. He wasn't a manwhore. He was simply likable. Women were attracted to his mystery, and his charm. They all wanted to be the lucky lady to unravel the full story, just as I did.

I finally started to assert myself, and we began talking more often. Jeremiah and I did not have much in common. He was a darker person at the time, and I was a happy-go-lucky teen. Yet, we defied the odds, and became friends. Though, I hate to admit that I was much more interested in him than he was in me. We had bonded, and began talking more. Our blossoming friendship was refreshing. Knowing that I had someone to talk to was such an incredible feeling that I had only felt a few times before. Our conversations ranged from topics like books and movies, to the extremities of our experience with heartbreak. He was a great friend at the time. A great person to confide it. To trust.

We continued to speak; more and more. Within two weeks, he was the closest thing I had ever had to a best friend.
