Today is something that I will never forget. A day which would only come in my nightmares. We swore an oath that we would not leave each other or Beka. My sister broke that path that had shared for so long and dragged it in the mud like it was nothing. Like it didn't matter, like nothing mattered.
My sister was charged with the murder of Brodey Carey, the mayors son. Why did she kill home that is a question that is still to be determined, maybe she was framed to be honest no body knows, but I know that things aren't going to turn out for her.
We spent about two hours at the dusty old court room. The only room in this dreadful place that everyone seems to fear. Because here your entire life can flash before your eyes.
We sat there as my sister got asked about a series of questions the night of the murder. They began to bring up the evidence. The killing was done with a knife. Made of solid steel and very rare it used to be our fathers, but it was passed down to her. Everyone knows it's her knife it wasn't even questioned, but when it was found to have her figure prints and Brodey's blood on it the trial was pretty much over. My sister has nothing and no one to prove her innocent, and just like my parents fate she will be banished into the dark woods.
The dark woods are forbidden and no one is allowed to enter them unless they want to meet death early. So naturally a town would use it as a punishment and fear factor to keep people in check. You do something to offend someone your gone the next day. And there is nothing that can be done.
Nobody knows what lies upon the wall because nobody has ever come to tell the tale. But there are stories of creatures that live there, some as beautiful as the stars and some come from the darkest parts of your mind the things that you fear most. I remember something I saw as a child I was awaken to a small green light about the size of pea, but as bright as the sun. It buzzed at my window and darted all around and then it left. I told my parents the next day and they ended up leaving of their own free will. I never knew why and I still don't I always thought it's because of us. I may never know and maybe that is for the best. They choose to leave Beka and they choose to leave us. My sister and I had nothing when they left it was the two of us against the world and now it is me.
