The Unfamiliar.
It's unfamiliar, and makes one feel exposed and vulnerable. It involves one taking a risk, placing a great trust in another to allow them to affect one that much. When one longs for something like this, it becomes associated with pain.
When one finally has it, all of a sudden, one can finally feel the pain and realise what one was missing out on in the past. It hurts. Oh god, it hurts so much.
It challenges an old identity ingrained into one's head, challenging the subconscious belief that one is insignificant, and couldn't matter that much to someone else. It challenges the underlying feeling within, that one is undeserving of such treatment and feel guilty for the joys that subsequently come as a result of it.
For a long time, one has come to terms with these inner thoughts, demons that have become the "familiar". Then suddenly, other voices come in and challenge these long-held views.
One needs to heal, to challenge one's own negative thoughts. No need to rely on outside voices, because that alone, won't solve the root of the problem.
One needs to know that everyone is worthy of love, even for one's self. Despite all feelings against it, one always preaches that everyone deserves a chance. So one shouldn't be a hypocrite. One should take a chance and allow oneself to be vulnerable for a change.
Because this "unfamiliar" is beautiful.
