The Ring

He looked at her with his dark brown eyes.  In these eyes, she could see plainly displayed: fear, rejection, hurt.  It was the last one that burned her insides so much.  "Why?" she chided herself.  "Why can't I just accept the ring like a normal person?  Why do I have to be so difficult?"  Forcing herself to smile, she reached forward for the ring, putting it on her right hand's ring finger.  As soon as she did so, something inside of her snapped.  "I'm ready," she spoke calmly and clearly, yet paused.  "For the adventure ahead, and the hard times it will include."  The sapphire stone on her finger began to pulsate and throb as the girl stepped forward.

Mackenzie Annabelle Locke was a normal 18 year old girl until she visited her home country of Ireland to meet the boy of her dreams, Jared Cole, a 23 year old man that completely stole her heart.  She walks hand in hand towards a destiny that was already decided centuries before her birth.
