Trigger Warning*

Ruby went home that night,

not really able to stop smiling.

Nobody was home,

but she didn't mind.

Although she was alone a lot lately,

she hated it.

She lied in her bed, waiting for sleep to come.

It never did.

For some reason her mind automatically flipped a switch,

making her mind go from elated to depressed in a matter of seconds.

She looked out the window.

Looked out into the busy streets of New York.

The lights illuminating over the city.

So beautiful, yet she couldn't bring herself to love it.

Her roommates still weren't back yet.

She was waiting for them to come home,

so she at least had people to distract her.

They never did.

She looked down.

Pressing her forehead against the glass.

People walked throughout the dim lighting along the sidewalk.

Busy people.

New York was always busy.

She sighed,

Her breath fogging up the glass of her apartment building window.

I could jump...

She thought.

Suddenly it was hard to swallow.

She knit her eyebrows together,

closed her eyes tight,

and stayed like that,

thinking,

until her phone buzzed.

She looked at it, wondering who it could possibly be at this hour.

Dane.

She smiled,

suddenly forgetting about everything else.

She opened it.

Goodnight, princess <3.

Hello :)  Shorter chapter than the last one, but eh. I wanted people to get a feel for what actually goes on inside Ruby's mind :)
