She was glad she got to see her;but she wasn't

She shouldn't love her;yet she did.

She loved the forbidden.

And of course Zora had to give her that smile.

That smile that made Naomi wish she was dead.

It hurt too much.

It hurt to know that Zora would never love her.

But,

As usual,

Naomi smiled back.

Like nothing was wrong.

Zora was so utterly clueless.

It made Naomi want to laugh;only it didn't.

She didn't know Naomi loved her.

No matter how many hints Naomi gave,

She didn't get it.

Naomi walked through the school hallways,

Looking at all of the murals.

She was in love with the one Zora had painted.

It was the only one with words.

It was a painting of some New York
City buildings,

And in the sky it said:

"Where do the ducks go in the winter? You know, those ducks in that lagoon near Central Park?"

Naomi smiled.

Catcher in the Rye was Zora's favorite book.

She walked passed the mural,

After glancing at it one more time.

She headed towards the art room,

Knowing Zora would be there.

When she got there,

She was right.

Zora was there.

Only she wasn't doing what Naomi
Thought she'd be doing.

Naomi thought she'd be painting something pretty.

But instead,

She had her lips firmly planted on someone else's.

A pair of lips that weren't Naomi's.

And like a lot of things,

It made Naomi want to die.

But what really surprised her,

Even though it shouldn't have,

Is that the lips she was kissing belonged to a boy.
