You're My Forever: Kaneki X Dying! Reader

No Matter What...

The streets were dark and lonely, the moonlight giving the atmosphere a slight glow. You, a human and Kaneki were hiding in the shrubbery, shrouded in the night's darkness.

You and Kaneki have been best friends ever since high school, you were bothered by the fact that he became a ghoul at first but you knew that he was still the Kaneki you grew to care and love for dearly.

Now you helped him hunt, be his shoulder to cry on, his pillar of hope and his last connection to humanity.

Looking out for some flesh, you spot a drunkard coming towards your direction. Signalling Kaneki to strike, you both got up to attack the prey. Kaneki lunged towards the man and you stood there with a knife in hand, waiting for an opening.

Boom!

A loud noise pierced your ears as it echoed in the empty streets. Your eyes widened as you felt a shot of pain piercing through you, burning with a warm tingling sensation. You fell onto your back, ready to meet the cold pavement below but someone caught you by the waist just in time. You looked into his eyes, Kaneki...

His raven eyes boring into your (e/c) ones. You saw hurt,sadness,guilt and anger pooling in them, a confusing mixture of emotions. From the corner of your eye, you saw the man from before, dead.

You took a glance at your chest, your shirt moist with crimson, the drunkard had shot you. You knew it was too late for you as your body grew colder and your breaths became shorter.

You had to tell him . Even if it was meaningless now as death's door awaits you.

"Kaneki... Its too late for me..." You say weakly.

"No...(y/n)...please" Kaneki replied as his raven hues grew moist with tears.

"Before I go, please promise me something. Please?"

"I'll keep you safe! Just stay with me, (y/n)!" He pleaded.

"Its okay,Kaneki... Just listen to what I have to say... When I'm gone, take care of yourself. I don't want you to hurt yourself because of me, it'll just make it harder to leave you. I wish I could stay longer because....I love you, Kaneki and I always will." You gave him a small smile even if it took all the strength you had left. Tears falling freely from your (e/c) hues.

"I love you too, (y/n)! So please don't leave me!" He pleaded once more as his tears flood onto his features.

You smiled once more, happy he felt the same. Your eyes shutting slowly as the life faded from you. Your heartbeat and breathing slowing down. Your body growing colder as the blood left your veins. Memories flashing before your eyes, both happy and sad.

"Thank you.... Kaneki..."

Darkness swallowing you, the light leaving your eyes. He watched as your beautiful (e/c) irises that used to shine stunningly, dull into what used to be a memory of what he once knew of you. Finally, your breathing stopped and your eyes shut close.

His tears dripping onto your cold lifeless corpse as he cradled you in his arms.

"No matter what, you'll always be my forever... (y/n)..." He whispered as he removed a strand of your (h/c) hair from your face. His tears, an endless shower of rainfall.

If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them.
