Morphs

Chapter three

While we were eating Cole told me about himself. When he was younger he was dropped off at a settlement with a bunch of other people with the mark. He then told me about how the people there vanished after he was there for almost two years. Since then he's been on his own.
Cole told me about how people with the mark can transform into any animal they want. From mythological to real animals. He seemed to be telling the truth so I decided to trust him. To make sure I believed him he turned into a wolf and howled at the moon. My face must've been priceless because as soon as he transformed back he was laughing and his laughter slowly made me laugh. Laughter really is contagious.
One week later
Cole was pointing his bow at a deer munching on the grass. Behind the deer was a cliff going about ten feet up. The dirt was all jagged with a few rocks was peeking out. I had my bow waiting for his signal.
I was getting antsy and my arms were sore from drawing the string back. Then I heard the signal it sounded like a bird call. Thud!! One arrow in my turn to take the final shot. I let my left hand release the string and with a thud the deer was on the ground. I put my bow back in my duffel bag with all my other stuff. I couldn't help but pause as I looked in. The bag seemed to go on forever.
I zipped it back up and went over to the deer. Cole was already over there waiting for my help. I came over to him and he had a knife in his hand. As he prepared the food as I put the tent back up near the water but not to close to the cliff.
As I was putting the tent up I thought back to the time I found another group.
Flashback
I was running through the forest when I started to hear noises. Laughter, something I haven't heard for a while. I walked forward a twig snapping under my feet as I walked into a clearing. A bunch of people turned suddenly all staring at me. The attention felt weird and gave me a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Flashback end
I only stayed there one day before everyone just disappeared. And I was left alone.
