I awoke to the sun shining far too brightly into my eyes, immediately they began to sting and I had to shut them a few seconds to regain my sight, although strange and colourful patterns still clouded my vision.

I stretched my arms above me in an attempt to wake myself up, but failed miserably. My head was aching and my vision was still blurred. I leant over on my elbow to peer over at my alarm clock, and my eyes must have widened to about five times the size of normality once I'd managed to read the numbers.

'08:20'

Seriously? I thought to my self. Just typical.

I had forgotten to set the alarm, that usually went off at about 7:00, since I needed time to get ready and school started at 8:40. That left me twenty minutes to do everything.

I grumpily (but quickly) stumbled from my bed, throwing the covers onto the floor and rushing down the hall and into the bathroom. I quickly washed and changed into the clothes I had left there ready for the morning. After pulling my clothes on quickly I looked in the mirror.

Disappointing.

My skin was dry and my hair was messy. I spent the next few seconds searching for a hair brush but it felt more like about 10 minutes, since my brain knew full well I was rushing according to a scheduele, once I finally got a hold of a paddle brush I ran it through my hair roughly, probably tearing my knots apart rather than brushing them out.

I quickly moisturized my face and put concealer where needed. I had no time to perfect makeup so I left it at that and tied my hair back into a high ponytail.

I was wearing a simple pair of dark skinny jeans and an oversized sweatshirt with the superdry logo printed simply onto the front of the material. My mum decided that buying me things was the only way she could show affection to me, other than actually being there for me, that obviously never crossed her shallow and self- obsessed mind.

I sigh at my appearance one last time before rushing to find a pair of shoes suitable for the day. I searched through piles of clothes and books around my room, searching for my trusty pair of black converse, it took me a while but I finally found them, one and then the other.

I was shoving them on as I hopped from the bedroom, I don't even bother to tie the laces, which makes me trip on the stairs. I'm pretty clumsy. In case you hadn't already guessed that for yourself.

I race into the kitchen quickly, where my mum was listening to the radio whilst drinking her tea. and my dad was reading the paper and drinking what I could easily tell was black coffee, due to the strong aroma that hit my nose as I passed him.

I rush around and find myself a breakfast bar, I grab that and rush past the island and back in to the hallway, I don't even bother saying goodbye to my parents, not that they ever gave much of a sincere reply anyway.

I swung my black backpack over my shoulder after tying my laces pathetically and scurried to open the door, just before I stepped out into the chilly morning air I heard my mothers voice.

"Taylor?" She called to me. I paused, what could she want? I was late! I needed to leave. I huffed but spun around.

"Yeah Mum?"

"Where are you going?" She had walked out of the kitchen and down the large hallway to be standing only metres from me.

"School" I said in a typical teenager's 'duh' voice, telling her as if she should of known, which she should have. I mean, it's not like she has watched me leave for school at the same time for the past how ever many years.
