I run outside with my navy blue Yale backpack and scan the parking lot. Conner picks me up pretty much everyday to get coffee before our first class.
I see him leaning against his Ford Focus on his phone, not seeming to notice me. He's dressed in some basketball shorts and a Yale soccer shirt. What is with guys wearing shorts year round even though the weather gets as cold as freaking Alaska. I never got that.
He finally looks up at me when I'm about 10 feet away from him. "Hey girl," he opens his arms wide to embrace me. "Hey Conner!" I say happily. Just seeing him makes me happy.
We hop in the car and he takes out his book of cd's. "Bon Jovi or The Beatles?" he asks. He's always listening to old music and I love it.
"Mmm? How 'bout The Beatles!" I giggle softly watching him eagerly put the cd in.
We take the five minutes in the car ride to the Burt's coffee house talking about homework and how he didn't get any sleep because his roomate was talking in his sleep.
He complains all the time about his roomate Josh. That he's always playing his "stupid" drums and playing his "stupid" rock music. It makes me laugh at how agitated he gets about it.
My roomate is super nice. Ashley and I have actually gotten really close in the last 3 months. We have close to nothing in common though. She hates sports with a passion. When I heard that I thought for sure we couldn't be friends, but once I really got to know her she seemed alright. Ashley's pretty timid around people she doesn't know but she's not afraid to speak for what she believes in. She's a senior this year and I really look up to her. She's very mature. I ask her for advice and it's always interesting to hear what she has to say...
Conner and I usually only sit down for a couple minutes then walk to our class. We have first hour together and that's it.
He wants to major in political science for teaching and I'm going to study to be a physical theripist for athletes. I love helping people who need it and being a nurse you see way too much blood. No thanks.
But I feel like there's more out there. More to see. New places to go.
We're both still taking our generals though so were heading to our math class.
I hate math.
I hate math.
I hate math.
I think it's my worst subject. It's just that it is hard to stay awake in that class, coffee or not. I wonder if Harry likes math? Probably not, he's way too cool to like math. Is he good at it? I mean probably, it's just hard to see him doing math homework. I dont know why.
I am just dozing off to my thoughts of Harry and the bell rings. I scramble to grab my stuff and hurry out of class so I don't have to be the last out.
I am walking down the hallway and into the courtyard until a large figure stops me in my tracks. I run into him and all my books go flying. I bend down to grab the papers but this boy has beat me to it. I can't see his face because he's bent over, but I stare at his beautiful blonde hair. Right away I know who it is. Niall Horan. He is a foreign exchange student from Ireland, and he's really into soccer. That's the only reason I know him. He's sorta friends with Louis and Harry; I've seen him around.
I also know Niall because he kinda has a thing for Makenna Elmore. One of the most beautiful freshman girls, besides Anna of course. Makenna's one of those girls that is perfect at everything she trys without trying. She is very talented at playing the trumpet.
Makenna and I are close because we both share a deep passion for music. We met in choir but she's a lot more into band. We only talk in choir, and now that I think about it, I wish I talked to her more.
"Thank you, I'm such a clutz," I say to the handsome boy.
He grins and with his thick irish accent he says, "No prob love...your Kiarra right?"
"Yep, Westley!"
"Oh, hey, I think Makenna's talked about you?"
"Really? Only good things I'd hope!" I must looked really concerned because he laughs an unforgetable laugh.
"Yes," he says half laughing, "She said your a beautiful singer. And that you love soccer! Something we have in common."
"Yeah, I heard your on varsity, how's that going for you?" I ask, even though I already knew he was on the A team.
"Good..actually great, I really love my team. We have won all our games so far. Harry showed me around the field the first day, cool dude."
My heart flutters when the name Harry rolls off his tongue.
"Aren't you on varsity?" He seems really interested, taking my mind off of Harry.
"Yeah, I am on scholarship!"
"Sweet! Maybe you should swing by tomorrow and we can practice a little, you know, shoot some goals?"
I've only talked to him for about a total of 15 minutes and we're already hanging out tomorrow. Maybe we could be friends?
"Um, sure I guess. Yeah that'd be cool!" I say, surprised by his question. But that would be so fun. To finally just let loose and relax and hang out with friends outside "my group."
"Cool, then I guess I'll see you tomorrow! Later Kiara!" He winks at me and for a second I think he's been flirting with me. That can't be. He's with Makenna.
